About
Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park straddles the scenic Little Qualicum River, west of Parksville, where impressive waterfalls cascade and plummet down a rocky gorge in a beautiful forest setting. Perhaps the most magnificent park on Vancouver Island, Little Qualicum Falls incorporates the entire southern shore of Cameron Lake, adjacent to MacMillan Provincial Park and the awesome Cathedral Grove Rainforest. Cameron Lake is bordered by steep mountains: Mt. Wesley to the north and Mt. Arrowsmith to the south.

    Stunning Park
We visited the upper falls as we were too short of time to also visit the lower falls. The trails are excellent and take you close to the gorge through magnificent trees, mostly Douglas Firs, covered with amazing mosses. The falls provide a fabulous view and thunderous noise. We loved our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

    Beautiful waterfalls
A 2km walking loop gives great views of both the Upper and Lower Falls. We take the route to the left from the parking lot, taking us on a flat walk to see the Upper Falls. We cross a bridge and start heading down to the Lower Falls, stopping at the Viewpoint - there are numerous viewing spots along the way. The paths are well maintained but there were some step, uneven sections on the way down. At the bottom there is another bridge to cross with some steep steps heading back up to the parking lot. The waterfalls are lovely and the walk wasn’t too strenuous. We spent 45 minutes in this beautiful spot. I would recomment stopping to admire the falls.

    Beautiful waterfalls
Who doesn’t like waterfalls?! This is such s cool place to visit, I’ve never seen such clear turquoise water in a river or falls before. The water looks so beautiful. The hike out to the falls is pretty easy. I’d recommend going in ‘reverse’ following the sign that says lower falls that’s next to the big map, not the bathrooms. If you see stairs going down and can hear water you’ve gone the right way! The walk is one big loop so you can stat at either sign for the falls. It’s better to start at the stairs so you don’t have to climb up them on the way back. Most people seemed to start at the other sign so it’s less crowded going the other way. I would recommend bringing good shoes because some points of the trail are uneven with rocks and tree roots you have to climb over. Going early or later in the day definitely helps if you want to avoid the crowds. We went at 11 and it was just stating to get busier as we left. There’s a shaded picnic area too if you’ve brought snacks!

The falls were magnificent, both the upper and lower falls. The trail was a little hilly, but definitely doable. Would recommend visiting, especially with kids.

The hike isn't long, but the trail to the upper falls has a bit of a gradient and several steps without railing which is hard for those with weak knees. There there are many signs, a few turnouts were without them, so it was confusing. Love the clean restrooms with running water.

Walking trails provide views of falls from many angles. River and falls were impressive because of high water levels in May

Should be mandatory to stop here. One of the highlights of our Island trip. Rocky terrain so be sure to wear good footwear!

great trails on either side of series of lovely cascades. Well marked with good maintenance. Makes a good short hike and if someone cant manage stairs there is parking at top and bottom so could visit upper and lower falls with limited mobility.

An absolute must visit! The falls are beautiful and definitely worth going to see. The trails are well maintained and it takes about an hour to walk the loop.
