Only take me about 15 minutes from downtown Qualicium , is beautiful tranquil spot to recharge , relax , water crystal clean , calm and warm , so quiet , almost 75 Fahrenheit but where is every people ? I love it ,had the whole lake by myself , also lot of trails nearby . great place for picnic and swimming , the beach is very rocky , not a bad idea bring a water shoes or sandals ! you will thank me for it !

Put a public boat launch in !!! A lake is useless if the public can’t get a boat in the water!!! If all you want is to picnic and look a lake your ok to go here but other wise go somewhere else!

This is amongst the few places in our journeys where we were able to drive our car up to the water... right to into the shore... into the edge... what a sight. What an experience. Absolutely gorgeous. Loved the view. Unbeatable overall beauty !!

Cameron Lake is just stunning. The magnitude of the mountains and trees you’re surrounded by is so beautiful. It is a rocky beach and rocky lake bottom so I’d recommend water shoes. I wish I had some. Bring beach chairs or something comfy to sit on. Crystal clear water. Directly next to highway, can just pull onto side of road. Love it here

Some great boating, swimming and fishing. I have yet to catch a fish but such a great location and beautiful sites. The beach is a bit rocky but has either a stretched out beach, or small individual spots you can grab before someone else does. Clean and clear water.

The lake is gorgeous. When the water is calm, it kind of looks like glass or a mirror.

There is only a tiny parking lot. I did not see any other place to pull into after this place. We visited in late November - which is offseason. It was cold but we came prepared with warm clothing. The bonus of traveling during off season is we had the whole picnic area to ourselves. It was gorgeous and spectacular.

The old rain forest is something to see. The old trees were huge. The lake is crystal clear. It was beautiful.

We passed by this lake a number of times traveling between Nanaimo and Port Alberni, not knowing what we were missing. It lies just before the MacMillan Provincial Park, on the way to Port Alberni, with it’s giant Douglas Firs and Red Cedar trees.

The MacMillan Provincial Park abuts the south west edge of the lake and we did get a glimpse of the pretty lake from the park boundary.

The waters of the lake look very calm and soothing surrounded by the towering hills around it. We saw quite a few RVs and caravans parked at some of the better picnic spots and some kayaks and boats on the lake.

The mists we’re drifting over the still silver waters and it looked absolutely stunning so we had to stop to take a photo.

As the highway runs right alongside this small, but cold, lake, it has several areas where you can pull in and park. The best parking area is just past Chalet Road as there are excellent washrooms for your mid island pit stop.
Across the highway is a trail for experienced hikers. A lot of climbing over downed trees right now. Located less than 5 minutes ahead of McMillan Park (Cathedral Grove) the water is easily accessed from parking areas. It's quite a lot colder than other local lakes, but on a hot day, it's very refreshing. Also a good place to let your doggie (on leash) have a drink before walking in Cathedral Grove. If you miss the first parking lot, there is a second park less than a km along the wide sweeping bend, called Beaufort Park. Not as many parking stalls but just as good. Enjoy!
