A very well explained hatchery, with the life cycle of the salmon well explained, the hatchery also has a pleasant walk to the river.

After reading the positive reviews for this hatchery I expected more from our visit in late November. It was open to the public but nothing was going on and only a couple of distant workers could be seen. Most tanks seemed empty and although there is apparently a Rotary walk (there is a big sign to mark its existence) we... More

Our family managed to chose the very first day of the egg harvesting day to visit. The process and interesting facts regarding the situation of salmon in Canada was very educational. Loved it. Saw black bears in the vicinity as well.

It is a non guided tour, so you need to follow the leaflet you find at the entrance of the exhibition room. When we were there on Sept 7th there was no activity, all the basins (except for one) were empty so we took a walk to the river and watched the salmons gather in front of the lock. All... More

The staff is friendly but busy There is no guided tour so it is wise to keep hands on with your children as the water runs very fast Bears also... More

We have visited hatcheries before and made sure to stop here while in the area. The process here is simple: pick up an informational brochure (they were out of the English version but I had gotten one at the visitors center) and look through the displays in the first building, then wander around on your own anyplace not roped off... The displays are very educational. The sockeye were stacked at the gate so made for interesting viewing. We were there on a holiday Monday so there was no one there to answer questions which would have made it more interesting.
