Wonderful museum! Excellent displays presenting local history. Hear a First Nations' legend illustrated with beautiful masks, walk through recreations of early settler cabins, a hotel lobby, and a float home, climb aboard an old logging machine, and watch short videos (including Ripple Rock destruction) in a great little theatre. Great way to learn about the local logging and fishing industries... More

The Campbell River Museum is quite small (says a girl who grew up visiting the Museum of Natural History in Ottawa), but it packs in so much, and is so well organized. The Museum provides a wonderful introduction to West Coast native culture (including the infamous boarding schools), the area's rich logging and fishing history (you will never believe how... More

We had a very interesting time exploring the museum. It covers local history of the area starting with the First Nations people, through the impact of European settlement, logging and fishing. The short films are worth stopping to watch.

This museum is well organized and rich with local history, presented chronologically...very well done! The Aboriginal mask exhibit that comes to life and the video on Ripple Rock are great, as are the replica logging and fishing camps.

We found ourselves with a little extra time on our visit to Campbell River and fit in a quick visit to the museum. Depending on your time and interest, I'd allow about 1 to 1 1/2 hours (there are 3 video presentations at the end, and you can choose to watch any, all or none of them. The person at... More

Thank you for making the time to visit us. Each item in the displays has been carefully thought out and selected to follow a storyline, so if you happen to find yourself back in Campbell River ask to speak to the Curator and they would be happy to explain to you the story behind the objects that you were confused... I went to visit the 100th anniversary for Steam Donkeys. This is one of maybe only to operating steam donkeys anywhere in the world. Well organized and what a wonderful legacy to our logging history.

Small but beautifully done. Exhibits are creatively done to represent the many aspects of our Coastal History. First Nations Mask Exhibit is interesting and fun for kids, actually all exhibits are great for kids. They can climb the logging truck, pretend they are in an pioneer cabin, go on a float camp. The little movie theater with Film on Ripple... More
