My own home town is a tourist town and I can't help but make comparisons. Baker Street has nearly no vacant buildings along the strip, and all the shops are classy, as are the restaurants. Not to say it's snobby, because it's a super-friendly town....More

Thanks to the internet and online shopping I no longer have to deal with Baker Street. It's a complete cluster of clueless pedestrians, drivers and vagrants.

Sadly, many stores and restaurants were closed on Labor Day. The ones that were opened were interesting. I was surprised at all the graffiti in town and at the park.

I love the walk up and down Baker Street in Nelson and visit the unique shops. Our favourite place for lunch is the Kooteney Bakery as they have a nice selection of gluten free items and nice gluten free bread. Staff are always friendly and...More

Baker Street Nelson British Columbia in the Kootenay Rockies is a slice of local life. Lots of busy downtown streets full of interesting stores, historic buildings and parks. Homeless people seem to be everywhere in British Columbia these days sleeping on benches, tent communities and...More

An awesome tourist attraction in itself aside from the great specialty shops and restaurants on the strip. Lined with Beautiful old trees and gardens and it allows dogs now. Busy and bustling throughout the day and into the evening on the Saturday night and Sunday...More

Lots of shops to visit, not a lot to buy. Parking is hard to find and you have to pay for it. Unless you are here to drop a pretty penny, the downtown core is mostly for browsing, IMO.

Lots of vagrants on Main Street, harassed for spare change walking around window shopping. Basically just got straight to Granville street in Vancouver east Hastings , it’s the same thing. Nelson has a great downtown to avoid.

Probably the best. Lots of shops, restaurants and bars, especially for a small town. Great for a stroll and browsing. Some really cool historic buildings make it even more enjoyable. This is a must do if in Nelson.

Several businesses were closed on Sunday. It's definitely not the best day for a full shopping experience.
