We walked up and down both sides of the street looking in all the little boutiques and stopping to eat at a Chinese food restaurant whose name I don't remember :)

I love Baker Street; the buildings, bistros, cafes, fresh food, boutiques, bookstores and all the outdoor stores. My son was thrilled to put money down on a bike at one of the shops when we were there last week. The weather was cold and rainy, but I'll come back when the sun's shining. Nelson is one of my favorite towns.... More

Among the dirty cigarette smell or the useless begging for money, and the shoeless unvaccinated children, you won't find any good deals or parking here. The best time to visit if u must is when the market is on main st. aka baker.

Clothing stores, candy shoppes, great places to eat, all in Downtown. "I looked ever and found it in Nelson"

If you fancy a stroll along historic Baker Street be prepared to walk a couple of blocks or more in order to find parking. Once you have found a suitable parking location, be prepared to be assaulted by an abundance of street bums, pan handlers or shall we call them Nelsons colourful inhabitants. Whatever you call them be prepared. Once... More

Thanks to the internet and online shopping I no longer have to deal with Baker Street. It's a complete cluster of clueless pedestrians, drivers and vagrants.

We had never been in Nelson before so when we arrived at the Tourist InfoCentre, we asked for directions to the nearest hotel. The Best Western was less than a block away and situated at just about the foot of "historic' Baker Street. That evening I wandered around the nearby block a bit soaking in the wonderful architecture of the... More

A great place to visit. Shops that carry the common and the hard to find, but mostly pricey with parking at a premium. Don't be put off by the buskers and beggers with their dogs most are harmless.

The people in Nelson are friendly and many nod or say hello as you pass them on the street. The old heritage buildings and variety of shops make taking a walk on Baker Street seem like a walk through a museum and art gallery. Many coffee shops, restaurants and pubs have table areas set up on the sidewalks for patrons... More

Love the character of the neighborhood. Lots of great little shops to take in. Very friendly and pleased to see so many folks out and about on a January morning.
