I booked a circle trip of British Columbia and used BC Ferries Vacations initially to book the ferry portion of the trip. I usually prefer to book my own hotels and get the best deal possible, well they provided us with better deals on the hotels than I could get. And by booking five nights with them we got half... Ok, look; I travel BC Ferries probably once a week or more. I've lived in the gulf islands or Vancouver Island since 1986. I have also travelled on Washington State ferries, Alaska State ferries, private ferries and Canadian Ministry of Transportation ferries. Of course there are a myriad of things we can snivel about, and say BC ferries could do... More

A generally well run operation with fast check in and boarding. Be careful however as the waiting time can be long during busy times.

I travelled every few years with BC ferry and the service is average. The good thing is the crossing itself is nice and the ocean view is beautiful. The bad part is that every time I had to wait almost two hours as the lineup is always huge. The food on board is super expensive, total rip-off. The price of... More

When my first son moved from West Virginia to Seattle to work for Microsoft, I discovered the ease and beauty of the BC Ferry system as we visited him and took several side trips to various locations on Vancouver Island. Getting on the Ferry can sometimes be a test of patience, I was lucky both trips to and from the Island. I always enjoy the scenery. I ate at the Buffet, which was good, I liked the International Flavours they were offering at lunch time. I find the ferry ride relaxing. I don't have to use it very often, so... More

Lived in Beach Gardens Resort and Marina (Powell River, BC) for two nights. Nice and clean. Do not try to go Sarah Point if your car is not a powerful 4-wheel-drive SUV. Check the tide before you go for the Skookumchuck Narrows.
