We were very disappointed with the museum, took us all of 5 min. to walk around. Nothing much to see inside. However, if you need tourist information there is a very nice young man who will go out of his way to help you find whatever your looking for in Collingwood.

A wonderful Collingwood gem. The Collingwood Museum is located in the rebuilt train station which holds many pieces of valuable Collingwood history.

Artifacts include photographs along with actual physical historical pieces that reflect Collingwood's shipbuilding past along with its underground railway and Northwest Mounted Police history.

The Museum is located on the Collingwood trails system and one can walk out to the spit where the historic grain elevators are located. The Museum is also located kitty-corner to the historic Tremont, once an elegant hotel and now home to a wonderful bistro with artists studios located on the second floor. If you look carefully, you can still see parts of the train rails that connected the elevators to the station. Well worth a visit!

What better way to know more about Collingwood than paying a visit to the Collingwood museum. If you take your tie you could end up spending a few hours here. However, you can also easily finish walking through the exhibits in 20minutes. Got to know more about the local and the ships

This small but fascinating museum is a treasure trove of history, illustrating the settlers
and industries that led to the town of Collingwood growing here.
Displays are interesting and well curated, leading visitors through the building in
a way that invites discussion and answers questions.a great place to research one’s
Heritage.
The entrance cost is merely a donation, so one can go back again.

Tells the story of shipbuilding in Collingwood. On display is a fascinating painting of a shipwreck. Great way to spend some time.

Museum looks back at the ship-building era of the area, which is only 150 years old, mentions some of the barons who put the area on the map.

If you are anywhere near the town Collingwood and/or its museum, add it to your trip. We had one of the best experiences when we visited. The museum is very informative and well laid out. A lot of local information about the ship building on Lake Simcoe.

The staff were just amazing, friendly, helpful and truly attentive. We met two very nice ladies and received lots of interesting information about the area, Canada, where to eat in Collingwood. We also discussed their families and future visits to UK.

It was a wonderful experience and would highly recommend a visit.

After living in the area for five years, we toured the museum for the first time with a friend visiting from the prairies. First impressions are excellent. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of distinctive plantings. There is excellent accessible parking and all signage is clear.
The museum is wide open inside so you can basically go to any area that captures your attention. This is both a plus and minus. It means you may miss some of the smaller details as you make your way to the larger, more prominent displays. The videos of the ship building yards are a highlight. We also found the staff to be extremely helpful in offering explanations and recommendations on what to see both in the museum and in the surrounding area. The gift shop was a welcome area with merchandise covering a wide range of price points - something for everyone was very evident in the choice and selection available. Overall, the museum turned out to be an unexpected highlight of the day. It can be a little difficult to access and more signage from the highway passing beside it would be helpful.
