Park near the reservoir above Canmore on the Smith Dorrian Trail. The trek up is a zig zag up the mountain, first through the trees, it's quite steep but a steady pace will get you up there. Stop first at the ridge line and look down at Canmore before heading up the final stretch to the summit, take in Miners... More

The walk was easy to navigate, the climb steady, and the view spectacular. There was a slight breeze at the top, and the day was sunny. I would caution being on the top during foul weather.

This hike is funny- I did it every Monday for two months just to get in shape for winter hiking. Great views at the top. Lots of people through the summer on the trail- lots of unprepared people. Although this is a day hike and only really takes a lazy 2 hours round trip for avid hikers- 3 hours for... More

We went on a day that it had been cloudy and lightly snowing, and the view was not near as pretty as it is on sunnier, clear days. I would absolutely recommend renting snow cleats, they make it well worth your hike.

A great hike for active families - steady climb to the top. You are rewarded with breathtaking views of the valley and Town of Canmore.

Hiked up Ha-Ling peak this morning. Not a lot of snow yet but a big chunk of the pathway is covered in ice. Need your spikes. With the right gear and if you are in OK shape, this a very do-able hike. Please don't go up in running shoes. Spectacular view from the top.

This one of the most popular hike in the Canmore area. There are gorgeous views from the top. It is a bit strenuous, but very rewarding. When descent check the Miner Peak at your left for great views of Ha Ling Peak.

Did this hike in late September, on a beautiful day to ensure we could enjoy the view. Lots of parking available, you begin the hike through the forest and eventually the trees thin out, and you find yourself at the top of the mountain. Really good hike, lots of folks on the trail, yet not overcrowded. It is a tough... More

High up, with beautiful views. Bring comfortable shoes, water (there are no fountains)and snacks. Don't forget the camera. It took us about 2.5 hours up and 1.5 hours down, stopping occasionally. We are in reasonable shape, but no athletes. Make sure, you make enough time, so stop and take in the views.

Make sure you are in shape otherwise this hill climber and toe pounder will take you out. This goes straight up to a final cliffhanging lookout over the valley which is amazing. However there are no breaks, it is unrelenting upwards and gets scrambly towards the top which is awesome. We spent a half hour at the top and made... More
