    Great Hike- Terrible Bathrooms
The hike, the views at the top and the lakes were outstanding. We met people from Ireland, Germany, England, Australia and Asia. Highly recommend the hike BUT the washrooms in the parking lot at the start of the hike were a disgrace! No toilet paper to use, dirty, smells, toilet paper all over the floor etc. No hand sanitizer - Ran out! This was the middle of the day and it was embarrassing talking to the tourists who were upset with the MESS and Dirty bathrooms. Why do they charge 15.00 for this area if they aren’t going to use it for upkeep and improvements???

    Worth the climb
Quite a steep walk up to Grassi Lakes but it's worth it. Wear boots as the terrain is pretty rocky and uneven. Wouldn't be suitable for prams or wheelchair users. When you get to the Lakes they are quite small but crystal clear and the view from the top is pretty good although I did start snowing when we were there so we didn't get the best view.

Popular, short hike with a choice of challenge.
A short (4km) hike close to the center of Canmore. The trail is very popular so expect lots of people on the hike and a bit of a challenge parking during busy times. A good option if, like we were, you are looking to fill a couple of hours close to Canmore. A great option if you are looking for a shorter work with lovely views (more challenging route only) but if you are looking for something longer or a break from the masses of people, this isn't for you. The Grassi Lakes themselves are an attractive reward but far from the most spectacular vistas you'll experience in the Canadian Rockies. At the beginning of the trail, take the left branch for a route with much more spectacular views but a steeper end to the route. Or branch right for a much easier, more gradual climb but without the rewards of the scenery. If parking in both the main and overflow parking is full, you can walk from the Nordic Center without making the walk too much longer. However, follow the trail that cuts through the trees rather than following the winding road.

    Stunning
I visited the trail twice. The first time i walked all the way from downtown Canmore, which is a nice hike/walk but by the time i got to Grassi Falls my legs had had enough as i also needed to walk back. The falls were beautiful, as was all the surrounding scenery. The second time i visited i took the free weekend bus from downtown Canmore and decided to do a full loop of the trail, which included the lakes and the falls. I was so glad i went back a second time because the lakes are simply stunning. Of course i was very lucky with the weather but this trail is an absolute must if you are anywhere near Canmore.

Absolutely worth the hike in good weather...take the difficult trail and enjoy the views and either return the same way or take the easy trail back but it is not as scenic. The water is Emeralds and Turquoises and beyond beautiful...I didn't want to leave. Add Moraine Lake and your heart ❤ will be so happy if you appreciate nature at its finest.

This hike is definitely worth the way up. This is quite a popular trail and definitely made to keep up with the traffic it dose have come through it. I would not recommend kids for the harder trail on the way up and there are many large steps they are unable to make. There are also a lot of little water falls that cross the hard path that will get your shoes wet so keep in mind. If you’re taking the easy trail it’s kid friendly with lots of room.

While you have to purchase a pass to Kananaskis Country to access, it is worth it! The trail offers two routes, easy and moderate. The easy is a wide trail and gravel all the way up and down, it is best for people who want to take a walk in nature and especially families with young children, it can easily accommodate a good stroller on this trail. The views of Canmore and valley, from the trail, are restricted due to trees blocking views till you reach the top. For more those that have the stamina to climb say, 5 flights of stairs and ability to walk on uneven surfaces, the moderate trail provides the best views of Canmore from the trail. There are some wet areas, but easy to cross with rocks placed in water to step across on. A suggestion, if you are able, is to take the moderate up and the easy down, it takes about 30 minutes each way. At the top is Grassi Lakes and it provides many spots with benches and shore to enjoy the surroundings. Take your camera!

We went here on the thanksgiving long weekend and it was already quite busy early in the morning. The weather was beautiful though and we decided to do the left way up (some of our group did left down as well). There were 6 of us ranging from 10 years old to 71 years old. My 71 year old mother in law was able to keep up and did the left way up with us and though she had to take a few breaks managed well. Most people were taking the right way up, which is supposed to be the easier way, but to those people I'd say you're missing out on the best part of the hike! My husband went down with his mom on the easy route and said he would've been extremely disappointed had he only did the easy route up and down. There's nothing to see on that route and honestly I didn't find the "more difficult" way very difficult at all. There are some slippery spots, especially if you go after a rainfall, and some steep stairs, but I think most people in decent health could manage it without a hitch. The views on that part of the hike are definitely worth it! Maybe moreso than even the views at the lakes themselves.
Overall, I really enjoyed this hike and highly recommend it to everyone. It took us an hour and a half top to bottom and lingering around at the top a while and many picture stops. Highly recommend!

Absolute must to do! Make sure you go left at the beginning of the trail for great views. The lakes do not disappoint. So glad we have digital cameras as there are so many beautiful vistas. Saw our first American Dipper. While watching people climb at Upper Grassi Lake, we noticed a cave across the lake, Saw a Great Horned owl with several babies. Such a lovely hike and we saw people of all ages along the trail. Don’t miss this trail!

This was my first visit in many years of coming to Canmore, a friend recommended it to me. Parking lot was full around 10:30am, but there is overflow nearby on the road.

We chose to do the difficult trail on the way up, and the easy trail down. We stopped for photos going up, and took our time - it was maybe 1-1.5 hours. Going down the easy side was fast and uneventful, not as much to see.

Once at the top we strolled around the lakes and explored the caves, it was quite busy, but still enjoyable, and so many photo ops! With a good pair of running shoes anyone can do this trail, it's definitely worth the steps. If you're afraid of heights or unsteady on your feet, the difficult trail may be challenging at times.

Went there with our one and a half.
It was a pretty hard ride for us with the baby in the carrier but it was worth it.
At the top, you have a pretty view of the surrounding area. It's not that long of a hike to get that beautiful view.
When your at the top, you can decide to continue a little further bcz there's trails there too.

There are two roads to the top. I suggest beginning with the climbing one bcz it's easier to climb the steep road than to go down. That way is narrow but you get to view waterfall as you climb.
On the way down, the road is really large and easy. You will be in the forest in that direction.
Approx 100-200 meter height, took us 1:30 to do it.

Be careful when you go, the parking lot is limited (there is one spot really nearby the trial but with feww spot and another one with at a 10 min walk from the trail).
It seems ton be a hot spot for tourist and locals from what we saw.

The hike was incredibly icy but we managed through with runners and it was well worth it. Lots of people on the trail. Easy Trail was the only loop open but it was a good workout traveling uphill the whole way to the lake. We almost missed the 2nd body of water and extra climb had someone not mentioned looping around. No signage. Don’t miss this spot, so beautiful.

This is a steady climb up to the lake

It is beautiful up at the top. You can take a harder or easy trail. On a busy day on the hard trail there is lots of stopping to let people past.

The easy trail is wider and easier to get out of the way of people.

I would head out early because they were telling people to come back in 2 hours.

We took the more difficult route up and the easy way down. Views were incredible!! Parking was a challenge at noon on a Monday in mid August. We saw many families carrying their young children up the easy route, but it was 30 degrees outside, which I’m sure didn’t help!
