We travelled by bus to Deep Cove from central Vancouver, which was cheap and easy. Deep Cove is a beautiful spot midweek in February but gets completely overrun in the summer and at weekends.
A nice 2 hour walk is provided on the Baden Powell trail to Quarry Rock. The trail is steep in places but is mostly boardwalk. View from the rock are great back toward Vancouver. Its main issue is popularity and even mid-week in February there are lots of people on the trail and at the rock. Furthermore, the walkers are very mixed and some joggers and dog walkers will just push through, without much care for anyone else.
It is possible to extend the walk but signage isn't great for this.

This is an extremely easy, extremely short, and extremely overcrowded trail. The locals must hate what tourists have done to it. The terrain and scenery are exactly the same as the rest of the North Shore, so if you skip this, you are not missing anything. Rude clueless tourists wreck the experience with relentlessly poor trail etiquette.

I have OCD and was trying to count the people on the trail, it became clear many of the people were stopping and starting and that affected my counts quite significantly. It would be nice if they were forced to just walk and not stop and talk.

Great local trail that ends with a stunning view of the inlet.
Mostly uphill so be prepared to sweat- but always worth the effort - have done this hike a couple times and I’m always blown away by the beauty of the area.

The view from Quarry Rock is breath taking! You can see Indian Arm and Deep Cove. The key is to do this hike as early as possible to catch the sunrise and avoid the crowds - summer time it is a very very busy hike.

I wrote a blog post on it; type kirks(dot)guide in your browser :)

If you have bad knees, consider skipping or bring hiking poles. My knees were killing on the way down. Despite this, the view was well worth it. If you start the hike at just before sundown bring a flashlight/headlight as the canopy keeps the light/sun out and round trip is apprx 2 hours.

Just 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver Deep Cove is a beautiful place to visit. The walk is well marked, lots of steps, up and down, and then step onto Quarry Rock with beautiful views. Worth taking lunch and taking in the view.

The walk up to the rock is over a wooden walkway, which was being repaired as we were using it. Loads of steps up and down with bridges over a few streams. Almost the whole walk is on the walkway, until you get to the rock with the amazing views.

Full of people who do not hike, saunter slower than is humanly possible and block others, while gossiping loudly, people with music loud on their phone, a long trail of people without trail etiquette. At 5 am this is spectacular, only go during the day if you wish to be part of the crowd that is oblivious to their behaviour. Halloween candy wrappers, and smoking, wow, have we really sunk this low? Such a shame.

I have given this 3 only because of how crowded this hike has now become. it is an easy, 45 min hike to get the to rock. But it is so crowded it is seldom enjoyed quietly. The hike itself is quite nice though, so if you are an early riser you can avoid the crowds.
