I was traveling Solo and I had met a fantastic group of girls at my backpackers in the city and we had been told you could catch a free bus to grouse mountain from down near the pier. Being that we were all backpackers on a budget this idea sounded like a great day out. Now to give you some... More

Your own personal stair master with all the benefits of being outdoors. At the top enjoy an open patio with a view of the city, and take the tram down. In summer enjoy the bear habitat, falcon show, and zip lining as well as alpine hikes and helicopter rides. A great exercise in a beautiful place.

I would rate the GG a five if It was ten years ago and it wasn't so crowded. Over the years the grind has become hugely popular, and now, at times, it's a steady stream of people going up. It's a great workout and I still do it on rainy days or non summer weekdays. Weekends and summer months are... More

I have wanted to do the Grouse Grind for years. This year for my birthday I did the grind and it felt terrific. This is not a trail you go on for the view as you hike up the mountain but at the top you rejoice in your accomplishment. If you are worried about the hike, just take your time,... More

This is a tough hike up a mountain, very steep, lots of steps, you need to where loose clothing and bring water. Do not treat this hike likely, its tough! If you have any health or medical issues, do not attempt this hike. If you are in shape or in good health, have no mobility impairments and like a very... More

I had heard about The Grind before visiting Vancouver and decided to do it. Although I'd been working on my fitness before going, I was not prepared for the grind! Very tough going but once I realised I didn't need to go at the same fast pace as everyone it got easier. I took my time and made it to... More

The Q and As for the grind are somewhat confusing "you can do it!! No you can't". My husband and I did - we are 58 and 59 - he plays racquet sports 4-5 times a week I do boot camp spinning and swimming, same amount. It was doable and a psychological challenge - but if you can't do some... More

"The Grouse Grind is a near vertical 2.9km hike up the mountain, offering an intense workout with 2830 stairs and an elevation gain of 2800 feet." Yes indeed, this is a hard vertical hike - it's not a walk in the park. I am average fitness and I found it the toughest thing I have physically ever done. I would... More

Okay I was warned!! Despite all the helpful and scary reviews I was totally glad that I did this. At one point another hiker/climber, I assume is a trail regular user said to me "Find your comfortable pain", I actually stopped and was like what the hell does that mean!, I soon discovered what he meant. Nonetheless I would do... More

The Grouse Grind is not for the faint of heart. I was excited to check this experience off my list, arrived to the mountain and started the grind. Upon starting a bit of anxiety set it, can I do this? Will I make it? However once getting into the hike I began to relax and really enjoy it. The trial... More
