- Brian L69 contributionsCrowded but beautiful forestThe rainforest is beautiful and very much worth a visit. The ecosystem here is quite unique. This is to me the highlight, rather than the bridge, waterfall, or pool. My biggest issue is that it gets extremely crowded which does detract from the experience. Don’t go expecting a fully natural experience.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 March 2024
- Nicholas WColchester, United Kingdom64 contributionsWell laid out forest experienceLynn Canyon is a great forest experience which feels rugged, wild and natural. There is a visitors centre, cafe and toilets plus an ecology centre close to the parking. Parking is chargeable but entrance is free. The trails are well marked with boardwalks for the majority of the routes and these zig zag up and down through the gorge following the river. We did the suspension bridge to the twin falls loop which is under an hour but you feel like you could be in the depths of the wilderness. Lynn Canyon felt well managed but natural. Tips to get the best, wear sensible shoes, check the weather and dress appropriately, and ideally go when it is dry so you can savour the forest rather than hurry through it. Be prepared to ascend and descend steps and stairs throughout. Would we revisit? without hesitation (in fine weather) as we do not need to spend large sums to get the nature buzz that Lynn Canyon offers.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 June 2024
- NutsandyodaRedhill, United Kingdom62 contributionsNational ParkBeautiful and highlight of trip to Vancouver. The park is well kept, well signposted and trails are clear. There are beautiful pools that you can bathe in and wish we had known about this before! Buses are easy to get from Seafront Station and take you 0.7 miles of park entrance or you can taxi/uber. We had a wonderful 4 hours including swimming and picnic. I would really recommend.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2024
- Clive M16 contributionsBeautiful locationGot the bus from downtown Vancouver with my daughter. Bus services efficient and well priced. We walked across the suspension bridge which had amazing views in both directions. A short walk to the ‘30 m’ pool. Absolutely stunning. Crystal clear water. My daughter loved swimming here. We had a good walk around the site. Pathways and platforms are well signed and safely constructed. Final walk across Twin Falls bridge and watched someone throw themselves off into the pool below - they were fine. A lovely large mocha and chocolate and banana muffin for me (My daughter had a chocolate and pecan pie which she loved)in the cafe before catching a bus back to Vancouver. This is a ‘free’ attraction and I thoroughly recommend to all.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2024
- vlr49Ipswich, United Kingdom62 contributionsGreat walks through the woodsUsed our transport day pass to get the metro, waterbus and bus to the canyon. Long walk from the bus stop. Scary suspension bridge, but lovely walks through the woods. Many people in the pools in the river. As a free visit, it was certainly worth it. The cafe was another example of places in Canada which do not take cash. Why should foreign visitors have to pay exchange rates and credit card fees on top of the cost of the items?Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2024

We took bus#227 from Phibbs Exchange Bay 10 (temporary Exchange) to Lynn Canyon Park. Alight at Duva Road and walk backwards for about 500m to the entrance. It was a Friday and it was not very crowded but there was a logjam at the 50m suspension bridge.
We hiked for about 3 hours and along the trails met many lovely dogs 🐕 with their friendly owners 😀. The Baden Powell Trail is listed as an intermediate trek and there are other trails such as Sky to Sea Trail etc.
There are some café/shops at the start near the suspension bridge but the food are overpriced.
It's an enjoyable hike as I believe compared to Capilano Suspension Bridge, it is much less crowded.

Most tourists flock to Capilano (we had been on a previous visit) and have probably never hear of Lynn Canyon. We only found out about it on the Trip Advisor Forum. There are no touristy leaflets to advertise it, which is probably a good thing so it doesn't become commercialised like Capilano.
Capilano is not a patch on this place. Lynn Canyon is simply stunning and a beautiful place to explore. There is a café and washrooms with a few picnic benches but other than that it is just natural wilderness with helpful paths and steps.
We got there by public transport which was very easy to do. We got the seabus across to Lonsdale Quay and then a bus to Peters Road, from where we had a 15 minute walk to the entrance.

We had a great time at the Lynn Canyon Park. We were there between 9am and 11am and it wasn't too busy on the bridge and trails. I thought that the parking was really reasonably priced too. We would recommend visiting unless you are worried about dogs... a lot of people don't have their dogs leashed despite this being a requirement.

Wonderful hike with beautiful views.Scenery very nice and it is very peaceful there and parking is free. The suspension bridge is closed, but still a wonderful outing .You can spend much time there and take great pictures.
Left the Capillano bridge as was too expensive, 50$ cad per person and am not sure it is worth it.Lynn Canyon was great and free.

We went on a great walk to Rice Lake that included crossing a suspension bridge. The forest is full of moss, beautiful trees and crystal clear water. The paths are well maintained. Lots of stairs but well worth the effort! Cafe was lovely and warm. Was great to sit by the fire and have a warm drink and pastry.

Our friend in the know said we should arrive early, which we did. The parking lots were still quite full, and we were lucky to get the last spot. When we left a few hours later, there were people standing next to our car stalking our spot. It was THAT crowded on Canada Day weekend.
We loved the hiking, the bridge, and Rice Lake. It was quite crowded, but we didn't mind. There is plenty of room for everyone. The natural beauty of the area is incredible and a great way to enjoy Vancouver.
Our group enjoyed an ice cream treat at the snack bar on our way out and a quick visit into the nature center to buy a postcard.

Very natural, non-commercial area with a spectacular gorge and an inpressive suspension bridge - a shorter bridge than the nearby Capilano bridge, but overall a much more satisfying visit. And it's free, except for a modest parking fee. Explore the forest, swim in the river. Fairly physical (lots of wooden steps) to explore the forest but don't waste time and money at Capilcno if you can come here instead.
Capilano may be better if you have small kids who need ice cream etc but if you want a naturay temperate rain forest experience, Lynn Canyon is the place to go.

Great easy & convenient hike which can lead to a suspension bridge or cliff jumping. I’ve been twice now and the cliff jumping is such a great time with a 30 ft pool and multiple heights that you can jump from. It can be busy at times.

There are lots of stairs, so it will not be possible to use stroller.

Hi. We are from Australia and going to be in Vancouver in late October next year. This looks like great pace to visit. I will be 76 by then so need to know how strenuous the walk is. Even just the first couple of kilometres. Will it be cold then?
Written 5 April 2019
Sorry, I hadn't checked my emails. Mid-October does start getting cool but we have had some shifts in our climate. It's still cooler now in March. I think layering is a good way to ensure adequate weather but if it's rainy, then it's muddy. We don't see snow that early usually and wearing good shoes with strong ankle support is helpful. A good walking stick or Nordic trekking poles is nice too. Glad you can come.

We will be staying "downtown" in Vancouver near the library, how would we get to Lynn Canyon. We would appreciate any other ideas about any other free attractions accessible by public transport.
Written 17 August 2018
Yes public transportation will take you there! Enjoy the sea bus across the inlet and follow the people up to the buses. Take a Lynn Valley bus! Sorry not sure of the number! A bit of a walk when you get off, but worth it! I have noticed there are many tourists just now so you will not get lost! Enjoy the area! It’s beautiful!

If we go here in September should we be aware of bears? I am a bit nervous of encountering one.
Written 3 June 2018
Did not see any in April. They would be around after hibernation. Park is well maintained and park employees are around and did not see any trash that would attract them. To be shure please check with BC parks department.

Hi... I'm about to vist Lynn canyon on early june. How is the weather there? Should I wear a jacket Or just usual T-shirt n pants ? Can the pool swim-able considering the weather in june ? Thx
Written 27 April 2018
June can still be chilly in Lynn Canyon, because it's shaded . The water is icy cold all year, but refreshing on a hot August day. Carry a jacket and water regardless.
Written 30 April 2018
what time are the bridge and falls actually open?
Not the ecology center.
Written 29 March 2018
Hi! I will be staying downtown Vancouver in May and would like to visit Lynn Canyon with my family. Sine we would not be having a car was wondering what would be the best way to travel from downtown Vancouver to Lynn Canyon.
Written 27 March 2018
Hello, I suggest you walk to the Seabus at Canada Place. It will take you to the Lonsdale Quay in North Van. There you will have the choice of catching a bus to the area ( Lynn Valley bus) and walking several blocks to the Canyon entrance
or catching a waiting taxi who will take you right to the entrance. Please be sure not to let any of your family try jumping from the huge rocks into the waters below - they can be deadly...! This is a very natural area. Only the Ecology Centre and a very small cafe are within the park. Remember to take bottled waters with you and enjoy!
Written 28 March 2018
Hello
Is the park trail and bridge actually open only 12-4? Or is this the Ecology center hours?
Also what is the fastest, cheapest way to get to the park from Downtown City Center by public transportation?
Written 27 March 2018
Hours June to September are 10 am to 5 pm and October to May from 12 pm to 4 pm. Buy a day pass and take the Seabus from Waterfront Station to Lonsdale Quay. After passing the gates walk across the street to Bay 5 for Bus 228. Stop at number 54185 for Lynn Valley Rd. at Peters Rd. After exiting the bus walk north and make a right at Peters Rd. You will see a sign to Lynn Canyon Park.
