Coburg City Oval dates from 1915. Following a devastating fire, it was reconstructed and opened again in June 2021. Some $7 million was spent on the reconstruction. The ground now holds a crowd in excess of 12,000. The Oval is home ground for the VFL club Coburg Lions. Due to a sponsorship arrangement, the ground is officially known as Piranha Park.

Coburg City Oval still functions as the home ground of the Coburg Football Club, but the days of glory are little more than a memory. The club, however, still competes in the Victorian Football League (VFL) with some success. The oval is now also known as Piranha Oval, due to a sponsorship agreement. The City of Moreland is to be congratulated for keeping the oval in good order. Coburg City Oval abuts Bell Street, a major artery between the western and eastern sides of Melbourne. If you have time during the football season, catcch a game at the oval, it's like Australian Rules Football was like 50 years ago, in all its brutal toughness.. Cricket is also played here during the summer.

Coburg City Oval is made for Australian football. Some epic matches have been played here, with the Bullants contesting the oppostion. When the lockdown is forgotten, we may yet see some mighty games.

Fantastic oval and home to Coburg Football Club, Coburg Cricket Club, Coburg Superules Football Club, Coburg FIDA and West Coburg Football Club. Great, modern facilities and will make the ground female friendly and all abilities ready.

The City of Moreland and the Victorian State Government will soon give the go-ahead for a major upgrade of Coburg City Oval, including making the Oval "female friendly." Women's football is the fastest growing sport in Australia. The AFL is encourging young women to take up Aussie Rules, and the women and girls need somewhere to play -- and change. The Coburg Oval is on the corner of Bell Street and Russell Street. A good game of footy will still draw a crowd..

While there is a big fence around this oval, the gates are open during the week for people to have a wander or sit in quiet.

Fantastic spot too watch the footy. Plenty of standing room plus a nice grandstand. Love the fact that you can buy Coburg Brewery on tap as they sponsor coburg VFL team.
