Have only done a little bit- that was awesome

Beautiful scenery, refreshing, not too difficult. It can be a wonderful trip with very tough bits, but also you can do day walks, as I did. The birds, the plants are all wonderful

We completed the whole trail starting from Arataki and ending in Swanson. We were lucky enough to have sunny weather all the way. Overall, I'd say it's not worth to do the whole trail. The middle part between Whatipu and Piha features spectacular shore vistas, but the rest was just walking in the bush with little to none views. While... More

We had the best walk here - there's a lot of uphill but it was super lovely and enjoyable! You can go for four hours or for just one or two and turn back when you want! Highly recommended!

This is a great walk. It is tough and hilly but the views and variety make up for every step. From lush inland nikau plams and tui to the wild windswept west coast sand dunes. Up and over , down and around through streams and past trig stations. This is not to be underestimated or for the timid. Prepare for... More

It's a bit steep, but it's worth the effort. The scenery is second to none. The luscious vegetation and the fresh mountain air, the distant view of the sea — it's all there.

Great views. The track was in pretty good shape despite recent rains in the area. Pools are spotlessly clear and fresh

September 2015. Walked part from Muriwai to Bethel's beach lots of steps ,magnificent views ,tough track with large variety wildlife. Cannot recommend enough ,but not for some one who only wants a small walk from a car park. In places extremely rugged terrain and take care in places , narrow track with steep drops. Whether you are walking or running... More

We did the 1 hour walk to Whites Beach, this can be done as a side trip on the Hillary Trail or accessed via Anawhata Road. The beach itself is similar to many on the west coast of the country however the fact that it takes some effort to get there seems to deter the crowds! Shade is available at... More

My wife and I walked days 1, 2 and 3 of the recommended Hillary Trail. Stunning views that always surprised. Plenty of challenging spots but well worth the effort. Our first day we continual heavy rain which made things more tricky but prepare well and nothing will be an issue. Highly recommended.

I've only walked parts of the Hilary trail but what I have seen of it has been amazing. Walking along the coastline on the top of the cliffs between bethells beach and muriwai is particularly amazing on a summers day.
