The cafe here has scaled back to fresh baked items and gourmet pies. Cafe hours also reduced - now open Wednesday to Sunday. Loved that a batch of fresh hot scones were cooling on the counter when we visited for a milkshake and chocolate brownie....staff are still lovely and the nursery is still worth the trip with a selection of... I've been here twice, once in April 2017 and once in November 2016. Both times I have loved it! Such a cool sculpture garden and a really nice walk. Spent about 1.5 hours here. There's also a cafe with some basic snacks and drinks if you are keen.

We visited on our way back to Auckland from the Bay of Islands. Made a great change from the usual slog down state highway 1 and no traffic jams on the day before everyone goes back to work. Lovely gardens, amazing sculptures and friendly staff. We really wish we had taken a picnic and made a day of it. Something... More

Loved visiting these gardens, quite a unique place to visit and was recommended by friends. Sculpture was well presented in the gardens with some awesome views. The cafe sold yummy pies. Recommend you visit if in the area.

I'm no gardener but my wife 6 year old child & I loved it there. The pies were excellent as was the service We came to look at the sculptures and garden centre and were amazed how much time and effort had gone into this privately owned centre. The botanic gardens in Auckland I believe is subsidised by the government.

The Kaipara Coast Sculpture gardens are about an hour away from central Auckland by car. The first part of this three ring circus is a well stocked garden centre which is distinguished by its wide selection of garden art for sale. The cafe consists of a coffee machine, a pie warmer and a few assorted cakes and biscuits. Service was... More

Lovely spot to visit - plants are well worth the drive for the pricing and the garden ornaments and sculpture collection very inviting. The cafe has been revamped - now brightly coloured however when I visited the menu seems to have also changed with less of a cooked range available. The focus is now on prepared slices, pies and scones... More

Lovely sunny day so took a picnic to the gardens. Wonderful place, with sculptures updated in the last two weeks. Path easy to walk as it meanders down a gently sloping valley. No steps but some up and downs. Lots of private spots to sit under a tree and watch the bees playing in the english cottage garden. The garden... More

Be prepared for a wait, or order then wander the plants, as we waited a long time for a very simple order & 3 others also complained about time taken to be served. Pricey for what it is.

Hi Coupee, Thanks for your comments and our apologies that you had slow service in the cafe. Since your visit we have completely changed our kitchen, staff and menu and now offer a simple much faster and more cost effective menu of gourmet handcrafted pies, tasty slices, barista coffee, iceblocks, milkshakes and cold drinks. Simple kiwi tucker that tastes good.... More

This is our family Easter treat each year; bunnies hide chocolate eggs throughout the sculpture gardens and kids pick a colour and find as many as they can. Well attended even in rain. A great plant centre and cafe at the location too for a warm snack afterwards. Love this place and so do the kids.
