About
Brewery tours run Monday to Sunday, starting from the Visitors Centre, they last approximately 2 hours. The first 1½ hours are spent around the brewery where you'll see our original steam engine, learn about our history and how we make our range of delicious beers. Once outside the Brewery, don't forget to keep an eye out for our working Shire horses, which still deliver beer to our local pubs. In any event, the tour of the brewery includes a tour of the stables so you won’t miss out on seeing these amazing animals. Upon completion of the tour, it's back to our sampling bar in the Visitor Centre for a ½ hour beer tasting. It is essential to book a Brewery Tour by contacting us on the phone or email. Costs from £12.50 - £15.00

Great entertaining tour
Oct 2021 • Friends
Did the brewery tour in October 2021 and visited the brewery museum and shop. It was an enjoyable couple of hours, our tour guide Monty was a very knowledgeable and entertaining. The history of the trade and the building was extremely interesting. The museum was small but had lots of intriguing pieces of information and items of interest. It was all well worth a visit! The beer tasting at the end was fun and tasty too! If you get a chance to go then do it, you won’t be disappointed!

Outstanding tour
Oct 2021
The tour was great, I can't fault it. Monty was fantastic, full of information and at the end there is a generous tasting. He was happy to chat at the end as well, it was all great fun and very relaxed.

Easily worth the money and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it anyone.

We even stayed for lunch and a few more drinks after the tour ended.

Great tour

Family owned brewery is the real deal. We had a great tour; learned a lot and had great time. Our guide Chris was fantastic; he worked in the brewery himself. Beer tasting was super; we brought some home and continued to enjoy!

Wonderful working Victorian brewery
Oct 2021
The Hook Norton Brewery dates from the 1850's with the majority built in the Victorian era. It is a proper working brewery with 36 tied pubs and sales of bottled beer to many shops and supermarkets.

The brewery uses the same processes and largely the same equipment they used in Victorian times. If you like turn of the century industrial architecture and vintage machinery this certainly is for you, even if you don't like beer!

They have a pair of shire horses and a drayman's cart that regularly appear at local shows and horse events in Oxfordshire and beyond. Sadly on the day we visited the horses were away so we couldn't see them.

Our tour guide (Malcolm) was superb, knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour does, as mentioned in other reviews, involve some steep steps so appropriate shoes are a good idea. The tour finishes with half an hour of beer tasting, and they have Coke for the designated driver!

Also on site are a small museum, a shop and a restaurant. At the time of writing (Oct 21) you had to book tours on-line.

Decent Little Museum & Shop
Oct 2021 • Family
Regrettably I didn't have time to do a brewery tour, but the little museum above the restaurant & shop is well worth a trip. The history of the brewery and the local area is really interesting. The shop is also excellent with a very large selection of gifts and beers to take home. What I really liked about the shop were the prices. You could get a bottle of beer for under £2, which is quite low in comparison with a nearby Cotswold farm shop for example.

Is there a better way to spend a few hours?
Oct 2021 • Friends
The tour was comprehensive and informative regarding the history of the brewery and the brewing process. Our tour guide, Leon, was friendly, humorous and well-versed in his subject. After the tour, we had the beer tasting which involved sampling the many brews for approx half an hour with Leon.
Following the tour we bought meals in the cafe (just off the shop) which was excellent, washed down with more draught beers.
In the shop, there was copious stock of all beers and the floor above contained sensibly-priced Hook Norton Brewery clothing (although we’re not keen on the trad logo!).
All in all, a top way to spend a few hours especially when you have the sense to travel by taxi. Just make sure that you have no plans for the rest of the day (apart from visiting local pubs to continue the fun).

Best brewery tour
Oct 2021 • Friends
So amazing! We had a brewery tour, and had a few drinks after. Leon was our guide, couldn’t of asked for a funnier bloke. He was full of facts and statistics about the brewery, yet somehow catered the whole experience for our certain group. Leon you made it the best brewery tour that we’ve been on, and would highly recommend for anyone considering it.

Only problem is the mass amount of steep stairs, however the brewery cannot change that, but just be prepared to basically be on a step machine every time you go up or down.

Had a lovely meal afterwards to try and sober us up, such lovely restaurant staff as well.

Would highly recommend for anyone considering going on this tour, and would highly recommend Leon as a tour guide, as he made the experience special for everyone. Thank you!
