This is a gem in the most beautiful mountainous scenery. The road up to the village is very picturesque and once you arrive it is clearly an attempt to reinterpret a Miao Village - although it does take on a ski village appearance and atmosphere....More

The nature and culture around Xijiang Thousand Miao Village is still undeniably stunning and memorable. As many other reviews mentioned, Chinese Han commercialization has set in and most of the shops / restaurants down at street level are run by outsiders. My suggestion is to...More

I quite like this Miao village of 1000 households. The unique traditional housing architectures and the footpath made of stones. The amount of tourist that this village is getting speaks a volume. A must visit place while in China.

Spent two nights here on a short trip from Yangshou. The wooden buildings spread up the hillsides make a good sight. Whilst it is touristy, the best bit was walking off the tourist trail and up through the market stalls used by the locals. The...More

I can't get enough for this village of Miao people. It's a place nothing like anywhere else in China. People here are so warm, kind and simple. I wish I could stay there more longer but pity it was a short 2 days trip. I'm...More

My Miao friends from Kaili brought me here. Yes, it is commercial like Lijiang or Dali, but you can have a good time here. Especially the local food is enjoyable. A place where you can make friends with the Miao ethnic group.

While they've yet to add every single restaurant known to most touristy places, the Miao village is certainly modernizing and monetizing their village. It is, however, still picturesque, with plenty of good shots to get in, both during the day and at night. Try some...More
