On the way back to Darwin from Katherine we stopped at the Saturday market where one of the stall holders encouraged us to visit the War Cemetery, the largest of its kind in Australia. I found it a very emotional experience, quite different from other...More

It was a long drive to the War Cemetery but it was definitely worth it. It was very well maintained and there's a short video nearby on the bombing of Darwin and has boards explaining the history of the place. Definitely a place to see.

A wonderful tribute to those who died in the darwin bombings. Lots of information, sensitive video to watch depicting real life stories of those who lived through the ordeal. Lovely picnic grounds for lunch. Highly recommend.

One of the few things to stop and have a look at on the way down to Nitmiluk (Katherine) and another chance to find out more about Darwin and WWII and see where the people killed in Post Office Bombing and soldiers were buried.

This is the main cemetery for victims of ww2 Japanese attacks on Darwin and surrounding areas. It is really well kept and has some information on the conflict.
