We had our son's wedding at Vahalla in Lake Tahoe. The historic vahalla means "Heavenly Place". The fireplace hearth was spectacular. Lake Tahoe is a short walk in front of vahalla. The lake is the most beautiful blue color I have ever seen . Mountains with green evergreens surround the gorgeous lake. Emerald Bay looks like heaven, The beaches are so pretty.
Lake Tahoe has natural beauty with opportunities to go on the lake itself or just drive around it. Take a tour of the lake on a boat or even better rent a kayak. Tahoe also has lots of fun restaurants. There are lots of stores, casinos and souvenier shops.

The history on this place was very interesting, but you need to book on the tour to get that. The first part of the tour is organized and the story of Valhalla is told. After that you are free to wander about for as long as you like. Great place allow 1-2 hours.

Love this iconic spot in Tahoe, but the walk down and up the hill can be a bit tough if your not in shape. After 10 min I needed a escalator. But once your there enjoy the vintage feel and unique place that this is...

After I contacted the USDA Forest Service who directed me to contact Valhalla Tahoe, I emailed Carolyn Grubb to inquire if I can rent the pier for an hour for a very small 15 minute elopement ceremony (5-10 people max). Instead of treating me as a potential customer she replied with the nastiest email filled with threats and false assumptions that we will trespass the property, the pier specifically. The bulk of her email reads below:
>> We have a wedding here at Valhalla on 10/15/17 and the wedding couple
>> have first rights to that pier. I hate to tell you this but since you
>> have advised us of this we will have to notify the USFS & USFS law
>> enforcement as to your plans and they would be on the look out and will
>> write you a very big and very expensive ticket if they catch you having
>> a wedding ceremony. They will not issue you a wedding permit or
>> permission as this has been tried many times.
>>
>> My overseer will also be notified and they will call the law
>> enforcement if they see you attempt to have a wedding on the pier or
>> anywhere outside near Valhalla, the Baldwin or Pope Estates.
>>
>> It would be a slap in the face to the couple renting Valhalla that day
>> as their contract specifies no outdoor ceremonies and it would not be
>> fair to them since they are paying to use the facility and grounds and
>> they are not permitted an outdoor ceremony.
A simple professional No for an answer to a potential customer and additional information that weddings are not permitted at the pier would have been enough and appreciated. Carolyn Grubb was unnecessarily offensive and needs to learn her manners.

We just had our wedding at this venue. I will admit the venue is beautiful and we are very happy with our wedding however, we are VERY disappointed with the event manager/ building manager. At 745am , THE day after our wedding, we woke up to a nasty email about not getting our of the building on-time and she wanted to take our deposit. This was upsetting because we were actually 100% out of the venue at 11pm with EVERYTHING packed and cleaned. We even had another building manager "sign off" and tell us that he has never seen a quicker clean-up. The woman that sent us the nasty email, Carol, wasn't even at the venue past at clean up time (which she was suppose to help all evening). I am pretty sure this was her standard move to take our deposit. Anyway, I am not writing this to be mean, but I would just want to know this if I was planning an event at this venue.

The sites and camp grounds are lovely. I love this area of Tahoe and have attended many Valhalla Renn Fairs here. Excellent.

I confess that we go here at least once every summer and it keeps getting better. The volunteers who are restoring the grounds are so dedicated and do a wonderful job. The highlight every August is the Gatsby Festival. It is sad that it isn’t publicized more because it is such a lovely event for the whole family. This year it seemed smaller (definitely less old cars) but it could be that they spread it out around the grounds more? I hope this review and word of mouth will help to vitalize the event. If you miss the Gatsby, you won’t be disappointed in touring the grounds and talking to the wonderful volunteers all through the summer.

Great park to explore history, the beauty of the Lake, take in a lunch, and work it off on the bike trails.

Valhalla is a great place to check out. We happened to visit when they were having 20's faire which was perfect because that was Valhalla's hay day. It made the experience so much more authentic. This is a great place to ride you bike or take a nice stroll through these historic estates. I recommend ending at The Beacon Bar & Grill.

We are planning on attending a wedding there on labor day weekend in 2017 and was wondering if you could suggest lodging accommodations close to the venue.

At The Camp Richardson area there are some cabins that can be rented, and on the other side of the road there are lots of condos that can be found on sites like HomeAway, FlipKey and the like.
The hotels are not "right next" to the area since it is in a national/state park area. If the wedding is actually at Valhalla, how freaking cool! But make sure you don't plan on wearing heels, the actual building is a mile or so hike down the mountain.
(I wonder if they are boating the guests in - if that is the case, you want to stay somewhere by the marina)

At times. There has been little snowfall this year, so trails are likely clear. Consult the local weather before making the trip. Bike rentals are not available during winter months.
