Lovely piazza for having a stroll and a chat with friends, especially in the summer months when the evenings are warm. There are local bars close by for ice cream and ice cold beverages. The museum of Gattopardo is also close by for you to view the antique costumes worn by the prince.

The main reason for many visiting S. Margherita di Belice and the Palazzo Filangeri Cuto will be 'The Leopard' connection. Much of the building seems to be now used for local authority/police administrative purposes although there is a 'Lampedusa/Leopard' museum. On the other side of the piazza there is access through to what were clearly once some quite impressive buildings that I assume were devastated by the January 1968 earthquake; a street that seems to have been largely untouched since then. One is able to simply wander in amongst the rubble and even (at some risk?) climb steps to see remains of some impressive interiors. At the far end, however, there is the beginning of some work that is perhaps less impressive. Once here though, worth going north to Ruderi di Poggioreale.

Ghost town with a strange atmosphere in the middle if nowhere. This is not an attraction by any stretch of the imagination.
