Ice Palace - Jungfraujoch is an excellent attraction ,which you must experience when you are at Jungfraujoch. The entire Ice Palace is developed and maintained with lots of innovation. Varied kinds of Ice Sculptures are great to look at, and you must take photos& videos with the same. As you walk through the Ice Palace you must hold the side rails as the floor is very slippery .
Overall very nice

After our visit to Titlis' Ice Palace last year, I was so looking forward to come to Jungfraujoch's Ice Palace hence I heard so much praises about it.
The tunnel inside Jungfraujoch's Ice Palace was much longer & complex than the Titlis' one, it also has more ice sculptures & displays comparing to Titlis'. I really appreciated with the efforts for the builders to build the Palace and sculptures too. However, for some reasons, I didn't enjoy it as much as at Titlis' Ice Palace, maybe it's due to the fact that I didn't like the white lights inside, or maybe I was a bit catastrophic, or maybe I had already been to one so had too high expectation beforehand?
Having said that, my wife loved it & had a great time, which it all matters to me at the end.

Besides walking in the snow outside, visitors can also visit the indoor Ice Palace and be reminded that it is still very cold inside as if you are walking in freezing cold weather condition.
We have been to the one at Mt Titlis but that is of a much smaller scale and right now it's so much interesting and have more things to see. Many ice statues and displays of animals, cottages and even well-known personality (e.g. the famed Lang Lang the Chinese panist) are so nice, cute and realistic. Really amazing and somehow it reminded of Harbin of China, famed for the ice statues!
The palace is big and even with staircases and is brightly lit. Although you may feel you are walking in circle, every path will lead you to a new section. Do follow the directional signs and you will be fine.
But be careful when walking and do hold on to the railings on both sides as the floors are slippery and wet at some areas.
It's a wonderful visiting experience here!

The Ice Palace at Jungfraujoch was a grand exhibition of ice sculptures and carvings. It was most thrilling because the palace was a creation under the Aletsch glacier and had a long history in its creation. It had several corridors with ice sculptures and dimly lit with coloured lights making it soothing to the eye. The floor was rather slippery and we had to walk cautiously. Sculpture of pianist playing a grand piano was excellent. What a fascinating feeling of being there.

Ice Palace was totally a new and different experience. We felt like back in the Ice World. Most of the time we were sliding rather than walking. The floor, the wall and the roof, everything is made of Ice.

I suggest this be one of your first stops, rather than follow the recommended route where this is the last stop. A stroll through the Ice Palace is a nice way to unwind after the long train journey. At the end, it could feel like a let down after the other beautiful, amazing scenery.
In summary, some ice sculptures are more impressive than others. I tended to prefer the general interiors and the tunnels.
TIP: Early along the pathway it’s not too slippery, but farther along, after a lot of people have travelled through, the path gets wetter and more slick. Walk with caution!

This was the second ice palace we visited while in Switzerland, the first being in Zermatt. Our trip included my 5 year old grandson who experienced a very bad fall in the palace. The floors of this palace were actually ice, while the other one had flooring mats. I didn't give a "poor" review because it actually was beautiful, but I would think it would be difficult for some to maneuver.

Great ice cave - we were visiting with my two sons 2yrs and 4yrs. The floor is ice and very slippery despite wearing good shoes as is to be expected. We were constantly pushed and jostled by large groups of Chinese tourists all practically running through the caves. They were incredibly rude and were pushing and shoving my 4 yr old son to get out of the way! This was despite him yelling and breaking down into tears as he was slipping on the ice.
Despite my repeated requests to them to stop pushing others merely joined their place.
It is a beautiful place but falling on the ice in a poorly lit cave will result in broken bones, and bad injuries. Tour group leaders through these caves need to be aware that it's not just them and their rude clients enjoying it.
The management of Jungfrau should really step up and intervene as these large groups of rude tourists really did sour our day somewhat.
If I were coming back I would bring my crampons.

I’ve seen much better elsewhere. You had to pass over a hundred metres of rubbish wall murals to get there. There isn’t even any lighting effects. It’s a total amateur attempt at an attraction and costs a fortune to see it.

This was a fun part of our tour to the Jungfrau. We walked down through the glacial ice cave. We got to the end and we were treated with truly ice cold champagne and quiche. We got to try curling. Lots of fun but not for the claustrophobic.

Grazie!

I have someone in my group who is a bit claustrophobic, specifically in 'cave' type settings. Is is possible to bypass the Ice Palace portion of the overall experience at the top of Jungfraujoch?

You would park at Lauterbrunnen, or at Grindelwald, then train after.

We visited mid February but as far as we are aware it is open all year round. Definitely make time to visit , use the handrail initially just to get your balance and then you should be fine, just take your time. Enjoy.
Written 23 March 2019
I have a little problem with balance but would love to visit, are there handrails to hold on to throughout the whole route through the caves
Written 1 June 2018
There are handrails mostly but some areas are not covered it is a little slippy but its worth attempting it ,as it really is something to see and if you are in suitable footwear with a proper tred and perhaps someones arm to steady you just on the sections with no rails

take the train to the end, top of the jungfrau. get off, follow the masses of people and the signs that say "tour" There is no person giving a tour, it's is just signs leading you through different places.First it will take you outside, then it will take you to the ice palace.

Nothing is provided and I didn't see anything offered on rent. Please be covered and clothed nicely as it's freezing year around
