My family and I are visitors in the area. We stopped by this museum to learn more about the area...we were not disappointed. Though as one reviewer noted there is a lot of "stuff" in the building (and outside as well), it is all neatly arranged into coherent displays. Exhibits focused on the people and events that shaped Spokane Valley. And there are many items we had not seen before. Our only complaint is that apparently you must take a guided tour. Would much rather have wandered at our own pace. Having said that, if you visit this summer, be sure to ask Rachael to show you around. She is an intern and is thoroughly knowledgeable about most everything in the museum. Her passion for history is infectious!

Dear Visitors,
Thank you so much for visiting and for the nice review! I'm afraid the docent who gave you the tour is suffering from Alzheimer's and is not remembering when folks say they don't want a tour. He has been an outstanding volunteer and we are sorry that he is dealing with this issue. Thank you for understanding. And we will pass on the compliment to Rachel also.

I had some time to kill while staying an afternoon and night before a flight home. The museum is interesting and has a lot of history of the area.

On the way back to the hotel we saw the sign for the museum and thought we would stop in, we were not disappointed, they have good local historical information and the person working that day was more than happy to answer any questions we had.

Having family from this area for many years, we were interested to visit and see if any relatives were featured. Well, not only did we find several family members, but we were quite surprised at the quality of the exhibits.
Of course there's lots of information that is local to the area giving a sense of how things have changed over the years. There is a cool animated map showing geographic routes and location for historic events such as the Oregon Trail or battles. Very interesting and worth a visit.

This place is worth a visit. The staff is helpful and friendly. Be sure to ask to see the archives, and ask for assistance wioth research. They are glad to help. The building itself is the original Washington State Township Hall for Opportunity WA. Support these nice folks and help keep history alive.

I had a wonderful visit! The displays and pictures really helped me see how amazing melons were grown and why they were so outstanding. Spokane Valley is a lovely place to live. My husband and I love calling it home.

This was fun. We came for schoolwork. Look behind the 3rd gun cabinet on the left in the Abraham Lincoln room and you'll find a secret.

I took my grandson to this museum for a home-school project. I was very surprised at how expensive it was. The exhibits are cluttered and difficult to study due to so many items in each display.

Dear Visitor,
We are sorry to hear that you didn't have a good experience.
The entry fee is how the museum is funded. We try to keep it lower than other museums. Adults 18-54 are $6, students 7-17 are $3. Seniors 55+ and Military are $5. Many other museums charge much more. We don't receive any direct funding from the State or Federal Government as other local museums do.
I will pass on your comment about the exhibits to our designer as we have never heard the comment that you made about the exhibits. Perhaps there will be a change.
