About
The Spokane River Centennial Trail is a 63 mile, two-state National Recreation Trail. Over 39 miles in eastern Washington span from the WA/ID state line through Liberty Lake, Spokane Valley, Spokane, Riverside State Park and Nine Mile Falls, Washington. Heading east from the state line, 24 miles extend through Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The Mirabeau Trailhead is located at approximately mile 10.5 in the heart of Spokane Valley. The Spokane Valley section (Miles 0-13.5) is the most suitable, with a mostly flat span extending west from the state line, past the Spokane Valley Mall, through a treed canopy alongside the river, ending approximately at the Maringo Trailhead, just east of Argonne Road in Millwood.

The Spokane River Centennial Trail Park offers a beautiful place to walk while in Spokane Valley. There is nearby free parking and restrooms at the trailhead. It also has a bike pump and tools station. The walk provides scenic views of the Spokane River in a more rural area of the city. There is both a paved trail along the river which is easily accessible and very do-able. There are more rugged parts of a trail through the forest along the riverbank as well.

The Mirabeau Trailhead on the Spokane River Centennial Trail is located at about the 10.5-mile marker and is near some of the most beautiful portions of the entire 40-mile portion of the Washington side of the trail. Just to the north of the trailhead, the trail passes beneath Arbor Crest winery which sits on top of some massive cliffs just above the trail. To the east of the trailhead, the trail passes whitewater rapids and other beautiful scenery along the Spokane River. The entire trail is paved, and the section by the Mirabeau Trailhead extends for 16 miles before crossing any roads. Future expansion of the trail includes a loop trail with a bridge over the river at Pines Road and Flora Road. The City of Spokane Valley will be making these enhancements in the near future. What an awesome trail to have in the heart of the Spokane Valley.

I accessed the part of the trail in Spokane Valley from Mirabeau Parkway. Nice trail for riverside walking and biking in what is otherwise something of a concrete wasteland.
