Whilst you may not visit just to see the lighthouse, it's worth a peep seeing as you are there for the walk and the monkeys. Plety of parking and a 5-10 minute walk to the summit of the hill.

This historical Dutch lighthouse stands atop Bukit Melawati overlooking the Straits of Malacca. Photos can be taken here but there is no admittance into the lighthouse. Views from here are lovely.

It is a nice lighthouse, it is located in a spot at Melawati where people congregate to watch the sunset.

You cannot go inside the lighthouse it seems.

The lighthouse is interesting but no people access allowed. The view from it is great though and all the monkeys are there so totally worth it .

On our evening tour of this area we also visited this lighthouse. Worth the time to check out its history. It is still lit at night!

Don’t expect to climb up the lighthouse. You can take picture of the lighthouse outside from gated area. Dark place at night so be careful when driving up the hill. It’s a one way road up and down.

The Lighthouse is closed to the public and visitors are only able to take selfies and photographs outside the lighthouse. The Kuala Selangor Lighthouse is formerly known as the Altingsburg Lighthouse. This majestic landmark was built in 1907 to replace the original one constructed by the Dutch some two centuries earlier when they conquered the area. It is a two stage tower with a concrete base and a cast iron gallery, and stands at 27m. It was used extensively during the British colonial period. Today its powerful beacon continues to guide ships on the Straits Of Malacca where its light is visible 18 nautical miles from the hilltop.

This historical lighthouse sits on the top of Bukit Malawati. It was part of the fort complex of the 18 & 19th century. It has a superb view of the Malacca Straits and its surrounding area and is a good 15 minute walk from the bottom. Alternatively you can take a buggy up. There are many silver hair monkeys that are quite tame that you can feed.

This is a fantastic viewpoint, looking out to the Straits of Malaka. We were looking for birds so it gave us a great view of the tree tops. We saw Lineated Barbets, Coppersmith Barbets, Common Flameback and Crested Serpent Eagle. Lots of monkeys too.
The lighthouse looks impressive and in good condition, shame we couldn't have gone inside it.
