Wow.....um wow! Do you need more info than that? While the reservations are super tough to get it is still worth a try. Check out my previous review on booking for some tips. (Link is at the Bottom) So, about the actual place. We took at 8:30am Bus on Sept. 12, 2016. It was -8*C that morning but the skies... More

We were extremely fortunate to secure reservations for the 22 Sept. 2016 0830 shuttle bus to Lake O’Hara Limited Access Hiking Area. For us, reservations opened on 20 April 2016, however, be sure to check the Parks Canada website to find the exact date and time the 2017 reservations open. Prior to making reservations you must first open a Parks... More

The hike around Lake O'Hara is a revelation. The track we did hugs the beautiful lake before climbing steeply up the mountainside to Lake Oesa. It's then a reasonably easy traverse (with a bit of exposure, if you're scared of heights) around the massif, with views over the lake in its cradle of mountains, to the Obapin plateau. Then down... We were one of the fortunate ones who managed to snagged 2 bus tickets when they have there system opened for bus ticket sales once a year. OMG it was a very stressful experience but well it! Don't forget to bring your copy of the ticket as there is no internet access. The bus stop is located on the right... More

So, we are pretty careful planners but somehow missed the fact that you have to book a reservation on the bus up the 11km (6.8 mile) road to Lake O'Hara. Subsequently, we spent two of our vacation days debating whether to walk up the road or just skip the whole thing altogether (eg, "will it be worth it?") given we... More

IT is well preserved lake. We could not get the bus tickets into the lake. So we had to walk 11 KM to the lake, it took me about 2 hours. But it was worthy the walk. The scene is spectacular! The whole lake is very quiet because not many tourists. Everything is well preserved! This is most beautiful lake... More

I felt compelled to write this review as my own experience as a last-minute visitor was far better than having made plans in advance. Picture this scenario: You reserved a seat on the shuttle and campsite months in advance. You show up. The weather is terrible. You cannot rebook. You drive back to Calgary and watch a movie at Chinook... More

This is a lovely lake. We got there by 10:30am bus and returned by 2:30pm bus. You do need reservation to get there. We only walked around lake Ohara and loved it. We had enough time to do the walk leisurely. There is a small shop at the top near the bus stop where you can buy coffee, etc. there... More

As I was only there as a day hiker, I only had time to do two trails. I chose the hike to Lake Oesa and finished with the Lake O'Hara shoreline. Along the way to Lake Oesa you pass three small lakes and a waterfall and you will have some beautiful views of Lake O'Hara. Lake Oesa is a small... More

Being the family name we were desperate to visit Lake O' Hara but it was difficult getting consistent information about visiting. With only 30 bus places a day it's nearly impossible to get there by bus. We eventually found out you could do the 11km uphill walk but there was no guarantee of getting a place on the bus back...
