Have to do this when in the Mount, so worth the effort.

It takes on average 30min to walk to the top. If you are not that fit just take your time with lots of rests. You will be rewarded with breathtaking views.

We decided to go for an evening hike to avoid the heat of the day, but it ended up having the added benefit of a really great sunset view. The hike was moderately strenuous. There are some pretty steep sections, but the stairs are well made. We worked up a pretty good sweat despite the cool evening temperatures, so make... More

We walked this track while staying in this area, absolutely breathing taking views and a nice reasonably easy walk for able bodied people, 360 views from the top

The climb up Mount Maunganui is quite challenging, especially on a sunny day, as some parts are out in the open, and quite steep in places. However, the views over the city, the harbour and the sea are very rewarding, and there are ample opportunities for photographs. The paths are well maintained, and you can take a different track down... More

If you want to really see the Mt Maunganui/Tauranga area climb the mountain. You can either head for the summit - quite a few stairs and steady climb then do the circuit around to get all perspectives - takes 1.5 - 2 hours at a steady pace. Fabulous views, good track with average fitness for the summit. Go early not... More

Best done in sturdy shoes and parts of the track are slippery. I don't think you need water as if you are moderately fit the trip will take around 1 hour. There are no toilet facilities past the surf lifesaving club so make the most of that on the way past

We went there before sunrise and it was an amazing view. It takes around 30-40 min both ways so no excuse for not going
