Self service apartments perfectly located if plan to stay in Runde. Two bedrooms, one with a bunk bed for 3 persons (2+1) and one with 2 beds. The boat-trip around the island leaves 3 minutes walking distance from the Environmental center. Exhibition of the Runde treasure and a cafe within the same complex.

We drove the 2 hours to Runde from Alesund and spent a wonderful few hours hiking the island. The hike rises steeply from the shore of the island (there is a handrail at some points to help get you up the practically vertical path). Once you've made it up the initial climb you find yourself up in a large meadow... More

Great display of taxidermy birds on the second floor. Good little cafe downstairs...the ONLY place to get food on Runde. If they're not open you're out of luck! They have rental apartments with nice views of the water. Showers if you need them!

Today, I was lucky to be part of the Ålesund Guide group visiting this location, what a great presentation. Runde is for bird lovers, especially the Puffin. But this location is a good starting point, and also has apartments for rent.

Rundle may not be the end of the world, but I think you can almost see it from here. We were simply meandering around the coastline with little agenda and not much time pressure so we quite enjoyed our visit, but if you have specific activities on your 'to do' list, then be sure to check of what is available,... We came at the end of August. The birds have left, all of them! So did the people. There was nobody in the environmental center. We hiked up to the cliffs and saw the northern ocean. That's it There are no restaurants or shops on the island (non the we could find) so come prepared.

Runde is a small island that is supposed to be a heaven of birds. We came and we hiked to the cliff and saw 2-3 birds and that's it. The hike itself was good, a bit difficult, and wet. The ground was wet from a rain (in mid June) and we ended up pretty soaked in mud. We were disappointed... More

This is a very nice centre at the end of the world to get some information and refreshment before climbing the cliff to see those gracious little birds. Don't forget binoculars. It closes at 17h, this is the only drawback.

Runde, which is just under two hours’ drive from Ålesund has the most southerly bird cliffs in Norway, and the island is part of the Sørøyene islands in Herøy municipality. The island of Runde is situated out at the ocean's edge. It has bird cliffs that are home to as many as 700,000 birds and it has been the scene... More
