Tons to experience, fishing, swimming, hiking and climbing the Duke's Nose. Stopped at the Whangaroa pub called The Marlin for a few beers and wonderful local people to talk with. Watched a boat pull-in the the Whangaroa Deep Sea Fishing Club with a large Striped Marlin. The harbour is full of history as well.

Whangararoa Sport Fishing Club, if your in this area make a point dropping by as this is one hidden boat harbour of North Island where big game fish weighed in. The club is open to public to view the catch or have refreshment drinks. While I sail into this wonderful harbour with some great history, I make a point to... More

Absolutely blown away by the magical Whangaroa Harbour. Had no idea how stunning this harbour is! Without a boat of my own I would never have known what an awe-inspiring place this is when travelling around the area in Jan this summer. The Discover Whangaroa Harbour Tour took us up into the far reaches of the Harbour - I truly... More

Whangaroa Harbour is a great place to visit for some stunning views and scenery. Simply must be explored via boat to see the fantastic landscape and all the sights. Even better if fishing is your cup of tea!

Spent 3 days in Whangaroa - stunning place and fished a day with Blue Water adventures - serious fishing and top skipper on well appointed boat. The skipper was informative and put us on the fish - nothing was too much trouble and the cost of the trip was more than fair. The boat has plenty of room for 5... More

This holiday park was just off the main road, Was a very nice bush setting and we asked the Manager who was friendly for a camp site to put our tent and boat up for the night. Had dinner in Maungonui and went up to the Maungonui Pa on top of the hill. Awesome views just on dusk. The facilities... More

Stunning views on the Whangaroa Harbour. I stayed in a rental house there for a few weeks and it was quite beautiful. There is not much there besides the gorgeous views and water but that is definitely part of the appeal.

I see the Lodge referred to as KINGFISHER Lodge (a kingfisher is a type of bird, is it not?) Whilst this place is named KINGFISH Lodge in reality......after the huge game fish caught near the local waters. Please everyone, stop calling it Kingfish-er Lodge, it invites scorn and contempt on you if you can't even get the name of the... More

This harbour is a peaceful looking inlet although only rated 4 star because we did not see it during the day and found dining in the off season minimal during the evening.
