As part of our bus tour we went on a boat tour around the bay. Knowledgeable friendly staff gave us the history of the area and a screeching in ceremony. Gros Morne Discovery Center is an additional informative stop.

Beautiful!!! This is not a far drive from St. John’s and is well worth the time to get there. The water is freezing! As expected :)

The purpose of our visit was to board a boat to visit the nearby puffin colony and then have lunch. The harbour area is very much on the lower end of attractiveness and charm in the province, part of it with plants for equipment for the off shore oil platforms. They do not make a pretty backdrop to photographs. The little town itself did not catch my eye generally re picture taking. The Church of Saints Peter and Paul with its 'canonized saints' is worth driving by or walking to, it time permits. You can hike in the area. At the entrance to the bay there is a lighthouse.

Bay Bulls is a great little fishing village. The hiking trail offers a great view of the village and the ocean from the cliff tops. The only downfall was the lack of parking in such a quaint village. I'm hoping they will address this issue to allow for tourists to stay and enjoy the area more. We would have spent more time shopping and dining if parking was available.

We had an afternoon with a smallish agenda that day so we took the drive to Bay Bulls.
The roads are good and the scenery along the way is magnificent (but then again where is it not magnificent in NL?). Puffins galore and the odd sighting of whales if you get lucky when you stop and use binoculars.

We stayed in Efficiency Cabins overlooking the bay. Took the birds/ whale watching tour. Listened to the waves at night, and heard the gulls in the morning. A magical setting for our first visit.

It's the metropolis of puffins (yes, there are that many!) Wear a windbreaker and take whatever you need for motion sickness.

This is a nice place to chill out and take in the view. The East Coast trail is very close. The bay is beautiful. It is a quaint little NFLD town. There are a number of whale viewing tours and kayak tours. A few local restaurants. It is good location to use as a base and explore the area. It is only short 49 min drive from at Johns.
