What a wonderful collection of rare historical machines and techniques, all immaculately displayed. I think this could be a world-class museum! Being out of season, I should have booked a visit, however the staff were very welcoming and a I enjoyed an excellent private guided tour. I found the visit almost overwhelming - the curators deserve the very highest accolade!... More

If printing and typography hold any interest for you, then this museum is a must-see. It is located a couple of miles from the centre of Chania, on an industrial estate. This seems odd until you understand the reason - it is in the building that used to house the print works for the local newspaper (which is now printed... More

We are a family of four (two boys aged 8 and 12) and we all found this museum absolutely brilliant. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly, the kids got to try out some printing machinery, and the gift shop was great too. Definitely to be recommended!

We were a group of 7 with 4 children age range 8-14years, so I was worried that they might not be that interested! But there are so many interesting machines and the staff are extremely knowledgeable they were interested pretty much all the way round. The museum is in the middle of an estate but it is sign-posted and well... More

I visited this today and it was pretty easy to find but it was in a industrial park outside of the city. Really interesting to see the evolution of typing/printing. I would recommend all travellers taking advantage of this museum....even if to get out of the sun for an hour or two.

We had a very informative personal tour of the very spacious and well presented exhibition halls containing printing machinery, book binding, the history of writing and some rare and precious books and maps.

There are new additions that is a collection of posters commemorating its 10th anniversary, publications dating the Venetian era, a small shop selling mementos and an excellent collection of statuettes on the habit of reading. The museum was in the short list for the best one in Europe for 2016.

A modern museum, excellently laid out, with knowledgeable and friendly guides, who explain the collection of printing machines and the transition from moveable type to Linotype to the digital age, as well as a brief and effective survey of the development of written scripts.
