    Happy in Hampi
One of the most amazing tourist destination I have visited so far. The architecture 600 years back was just mesmerising. We hired a guide Manjunath who had lot of good information about the history of Hampi. He was very helpful and a knowledgable guide. Totally worth the trip to Hampi

    Explore Hampi in a day!!
Amazing place with ancient heritage. To explore the most of Hampi in a day, go to Virupaksha temple first. Explore the place. There you will find auto drivers cum guides. They will take you to all other places like Queens bath, Elephant stable,Lotus Mahal, watch tower and other temples on the way and the stone heritage for around 1000-1200 rs. This was the best decision that we made. It was hassle free as the auto driver took us to all the other spots, explained us the significance of every heritage and dropped us back at Virupaksha temple at the end. We explored the best of Hampi in around 3.5 hours. We stayed at Hyatt place. The place was wonderful.

Review of R. Manjunath- Guide for Hampi
Though I knew of Hampi and the places that I wanted to see on my first visit there, our family opted for a guide because a. the guide knows the best places to park b. he knows where the rest rooms are c. he knows the local language d. he knows the history (as coached by the 'historians') e. if he is good he will know the difference between the taught history and actual history We had booked him for 2 days. He is malleable with his time, in the sense the first day we started at 9:30 am and since we had to pack in 5 hrs of sightseeing pre lunch, we were really tired and hot as the sun was high is the sky. So the next day we started at 7 am and were much better off in terms of weather and sun. As a guide, Manjunath ji knows where to start the sightseeing from. He gives a good introduction to Hampi. From Kishkinda to Vidyanagaram to Vijaynagaram to Hampi. He will always click your snaps at each attraction from the best vantage point. He will always have your back and help make your tour really engaging and trouble-free. Also, he made us have our lunch on the 2nd day in the open grounds in front of 'Queen's bath'. it was a wonderful lunch under open sky and the shade provided by trees. You may contact him at 9620662209

    Must visit place
Hampi is a must visit place to know about our rich heritage, advanced technology and wonderful architecturel, You will need atleast 2/3 days at Hampi and visit each monument at lieasurely pace to justify and understand what you're looking at. Must to do - hire a guide, do a coracle ride, savour authentic food. Most of temples do not have the idols inside so better to have comfortable walking footwear

Great ruins spread over a fair bit of the town.
Quite massive ruins - a legacy of the Chalukya empire from the 14th century. It gives a sense of grandeur and wealth long gone and dissipated. We visited the Vijayanagar portion only. We hired an auto to takes us to the spots and he gave a brief intro on the spots but was not a guide within the spots. He charged us Rs. 2000 for this. Overall - a good place to spend a day or half. It makes us think that there have been grandiose projects and ambitions long before us and those also have come to dust like Ozymandias.

    Hampi Magic: Unforgettable Third Visit!
Just got back from our third trip to Hampi with the family, and wow, it never gets old! The temples are mind-blowing, especially the Virupaksha and Vittala ones. It's just perfect for some family time and cool photos. Seriously, Hampi is a gem – can't recommend it enough!

Absolutely stunning. A long, uncomfortable journey but well worth the effort.
This was my third visit as Hampi, which is in the middle of the state of Karnataka, is one of the best heritage sites in the world. In the 14th/15th century it was the seat of government of the ruling dynasty. There are numerous temples, buildings, statues spread over a huge area. You have to go around the site on a tour bus or in a tuktuk. The area is strewn with huge weathered granite boulders which contrast with the man-made structures. Some of the sculptures are carved from a single boulder. As far as I am concerned, one of the best things is its remoteness which means that there are very few tourists. There were 31 people on the tour that I went with. In the course of the whole day, I doubt if we saw another 25 other non-Indian tourists. It has few visitors because it is a hard journey to get to Hospit. The train journey is about 7 hours and, if you go on a package tour, the train journey is hard as 2nd class train tickets are used to keep the costs down which means no AC, no glass in the windows, the carriages are dirty, smelly, crowded and very hot. Because of the distance, a package tour includes hotel accommodation on the arrival night and the following night after the tour. This time we stopped in the Hampi Hotel close to Hospit station which was comfortable and of quite a reasonable standard. If you can put up with the uncomfortable journey, you see the real India both inside and outside the train and Hampi is outstanding. It is possible to go to Hampi by bus from Mapusa for a much cheaper price than the train package and then arrange your own accommodation.

Hampi is a must-visit destination to learn about the rich culture and legacy of Indian history. The ruins of Hampi offer a glimpse into the flourishing kingdom of Vijaynagar. The best time to visit is between October and February, and I recommend spending some time at the local cafes, especially those with live music. The local people are friendly and helpful, making it a safe place to visit with family and children.

Hampi trip was excellent, it shows rich history of bharat, we had 3 days trip and covered almost all main spots. and every temple and monument has some interesting history behind it. Those stories and history makes those temples and monuments alive. it was truly an amazing experience.

and don't forget to hire a guide. believe me if you are planning to avoid guide because of some money you are literally wasting your entire trip.
we had guide named Manjunath, he has amazing in depth knowledge of Indian history..we asked many questions and he literally answered every question didn't avoid single one.
Manjunath phone no - 9620662209

Thanks

Stay at **Hyatt Place, Toranagallu** 4/5:
This hotel is located inside the VidyaNagar Township (managed by Jindal Steel Works).
Clean and roomy hotel and rooms for a comfortable stay. Especially loved the balcony and open concept. Staff and service was good. Special thanks for recommending the Guide: Basava
One star deducted as the standard food was not worth the exorbitant price.
Local **Guide Basava(9448007211)** 5/5:
The best guide you could ask for! Not only does he have extensive knowledge on the stories, myths, architecture (including all the SECRET spots 😉)etc , but he also gives an insight into the lives of the current inhabitants of the land. Very open-hearted and such a warm personality to spend your days in Hampi. He is also a great photographer, which is the cherry on cake! Highly recommend! Please contact him for booking:9448007211
Restaurants visited:
**Hampi Paradise Restaurant**, Kamalapur 5/5: Great food and service. We had the North Indian thali meals(Rs 180) and egg fried rice. Thali was exceptionally good and very filling.
**Mango Tree**, Right beside the Virupaksha Temple 5/5: Great vibe, great food and excellent service! Vibe is young and vibrant, unlike other places in Hampi. Must visit if you want a bite in Hampi. I went for the South Indian thali meals this time. It was yummy! Also got a strong coffee and parceled their deserts for dinner(instead of paying triple this amount at Hyatt for average food).
All in all we had an exciting and memorable trip

Hampi !!!! What a place it is. So beautiful, well planned and artistic. Could not imagine how beautiful it would have been if invaders had not destroyed.

The best prt of the tour was guidance from Mr. Manjunath (Mobile No: 9620662209, 9480554908). He not only has knowledge of Vijayanagara empire but also has done deep studies of Indian history. Without him, we were just looking at monuments and taking pictures.

I don’t have much interest in Indian history but hunger to know more was created by Manjunath’s articulation.

While explaining the background of a place/monument he kept reminding us ‘what we discussed before’ which helped us stitching various stories. During our short trips between places, we also discussed with Manjunath about Mahabharat, Ramayan and Shivaji Maharaj, thereby I learned how Maharashtra and Karnataka cultures are connected.

Manjunath not only explained about Hampi and Vijayanagara but also helped our parents, children and pet dog in every possible manner. He also helped us by reserving the table in a restaurant when there was a long queue outside.

It was truly amazing experience of seeing the art, culture and planning from our kings and how it helped our society.

I want to plan another trip with Manjunath and explore what we left in this trip.

Hampi and Mr. Manjunath, we will come back soon for yet another eye-pleasing and culture rich sightseeing.

It's a definitely a place where you are spellbound with its beauty but also feel bad about the way it was almost destroyed to erase the history of Vijayanagara Empire! Unbelievable!

Trip to Hampi was definitely a great experience for us and this was mainly because of the guide we hired. It really makes a difference when you just visit the places to see after knowing its history. The guide literally walked us through the Vijayanagara Empire starting with the various generations of Vijayanagara Empire, their reign, their work, their family, the wars, the architecture of every temple/palace, how and why they were destroyed and many many stories. We just listened to him with all ears and truly fascinated.

Highly recommend the guide for your trip to Hampi, His name is Manjunath R [Contact number : +91 96206 62209 / +919480554908]

My family and I visited Hampi from Bangalore to spend a few days to relax and rejuvenate. We were previously referred by a colleague to book a tour guide with Mr Manjunath R for his immense knowledge of the historical sites and the culture that dwelled during the Vijayanagar era. We were amazed and impressed by resolute determination to ensure that no stone was left unturned with regards to the information on the historical places we visited. What impressed us more was his fluency and clarity in his explanation in English. He remained patient with us even when we were slow and taking our time to absorb the richness of Vijayanagar's history as well as taking breaks here and there. He also took some amazing photographs of us and we were pleased with them.

I would highly recommend Mr. Manjunath R and his contact details are +91-9620662209.

Happy Hampi 😀

What a lovely trip filled with stories, art, history and great food! Would definitely recommend going to Hampi if you want to learn about the history of India and Vijayanagar. Spend two days in Hampi and one day in Anegundi (waterfall, anjanadri, chintamani matha).

We hired a great autorickshaw/guide named Ranjith. Initially we were only planning to have him around for a day but such was our experience with him that we ended up calling him for all three days. He drove us to unexplored places, narrated great stories and was very jovial in nature. I would not recommend going to Hampi without a travel guide because you may end up missing on unbelievable historical narratives and stories that this place holds. You can get in touch with Ranjith on 8762024986/9480161312. He made our trip much more memorable.

To fully understand the grandeur of the Vijayanagar Empire and its religious importance it is fundamental to have a knowledgeable guide. There are many hidden details that only a person that really knows the sculptures can give a complete explanation. Scholars that have previously visited the place have been impress by my pictures and astonish that all this information is laying on the wall or columns of the many temples. Hampi is a reminder of the splendour our country once had. The superior architecture and sheer genius of our ancestors leaves you in awe of the beautiful town. At least 3 days are required to see the ancient wonders that Hampi hosts.

The people of Hampi are very hospitable. The local cuisine is delicious.

However, availing the services of an expert guide is the only way to thoroughly enjoy your trip.

From our personal experience, we highly recommend Mr.Manjunath as your travel guide. He has a sound knowledge of the history of Hampi as well as entire India and also the Indian epics, literature and architecture. With his expertise, expostition and friendly approach, your visit will be smooth and memorable. The way he manages the tour time will enhance your experience.
