I found this beach the best kept secret in this region. Not developed and mostly locals go to hang out. It's beautiful, clean, few restaurants and you can't rent a chair or palapa on the beach. It's perfect if you hate crowds.

We took a boat across a beautiful lagoon to a beach on the Gulf of Mexico...walked along the beach collecting sand dollars. enjoyed a beer at a beach palapa cafe. Then explored a few jungle rivers on the trip back...Wonderful!!

First; the trip from the village of Sontecomapan by small boat is very memorable. Be sure to get some supplys from the small store along the road near the boat launch. During our many travels to Catemaco, we can't wait to get back to LaBarra. We have taken a launch from Sonecomapan, but mostly travel via our rental car.
