We visited the site just a few days ago, and it looks as if it will be permanently shut for a long time due to a fatal accident in 2014, when one of the volcanoes exploded.

The place is closed!!!!! - No acces because an accident With two children happend. We visited The place May 2016. There Are No reason to drive to The place.

I go there often. This place is so different compared to the rest of the region. Really wild and suggestive, Populated by unusual vegetation being it in Sicily.

We were taken to the Maccalube by our friends who previously visited. Without them we probably would not have found it, as it is not well signposted. Very impressive seeing all the volcanic activity at close range. Definitely worth visiting if in the area.
