This out of the way beach is incredible for walking and scenery and a low-key tranquil environment. If you are staying nearby, you can get fresh fish in the early morning (on the beach) from the fishermen to cook yourself. The bus goes into Chame at regular times, just ask. There is a little store run by a very nice family nearby for other needs and food. High tide is really high, so be careful when taking long walks. But it's easy to just get to the street. It's a small town feel, but very friendly and pleasant. Lots of Kite-surfers with great boards and sails to watch. An overall nice place to stay.

We rolled our rental car into town as it began to rain. There was a mall that seemed to be part of Coronado and there was a McDonalds. Lots of activity and cars in the lot, so we stopped and ate. The kids took advantage of the indoor playground while we wondered what we would do as we had driven an hour in traffic from Panama City and it was pouring outside. The rain cleared up and we set a course for the beach at Punta Chame. GPS took us down a long and somewhat potholed paved winding road with sporadic run down locals houses and vacant looking newer structures (most of which were for sale). Eventually, the pavement ended or more accurately morphed into a small dirt road. We followed it and parked where it turned into sand (so as not to get stuck). We walked across the dune of sand about 50 yards to stand gaping down gently sloping ten foot hill at a huge expanse of beach and out to water as far as the eye could see and NO people at all. Found lots of seashells. Kids played in the water close to shore. We didn't see any rays (silly tourist--we didn't know to look for them, but it wasn't as if we were swimming out there where they probably were, lol). AMAZING discovery on a Thursday afternoon. My favorite part of the trip.

Nothing, like nothing here unless you stay in a hostel or rent a house.

It's a kite surfing drawcard. Other than that, theres not much to do not see.... Unless you want to be alone on a beach... With limited facilities.

Although Playa Blanca is more close, this is nicer and about 1 hour drive from the city. There are couple of hotels but there is not much to much stores to buy beer or other staff so if you plan to go only to the beach pack or buy on the way to.
Nice windy beach but Unfortunetly a lot of trash in the sand.

25 km off the Panamerican highway is the peninsula of Punta Chame. Still not very developed, what makes it a jewel. Surrounded by the open ocean on one side and the bay on the other, it is a paradise for beach walkers, kite surfers, bird watchers. The water is not clear because of very fine snad and waves, and the beach is often covered with garbage, but it is nevertheless an unique place to spend a sunny day. Most days, you can see the white skyscrapers of Panama City, every day the islands of Otoque and Taboga.

Very nice water for swimming and tons of beach to enjoy all on your own!

When you are driving into Punta Chame look for "La Casa Amerillo" it means yellow house and can be found on google maps. Turn left just before this building and you can find tons of parking right in front of the beach.

Well worth the quick drive from Coronado to walk the beach and sea shell hunt. Check out Nitro Sports for a beer or Casa Amarillo for a meal.

Wide expanse of sand (at low tide) with a beautiful consistent breeze and lots of kite surfers to watch! Not your best bet for kids as at low tide there are "beware of rays" signs everywere.

We chose Panama because it was recommended to us by our friends and I am glad we went there as everything is so much cheaper than those Islands prices and we felt very safe.
