Great park to start your day and hit a beach later. Go early if you want to do the summit, bring good walking shoes. You can walk few easy trails, or do a drive thru the park. Nice to combine with boca shete park of visit a small beach.

This is a must do experience if you have the energy and athleticism. Bring lots of water, some food and make sure you have good shoes and sun protection. Other than that, be prepared to be blown away by the entire experience and the lovely views. Get their as early as you can.

This trip was a waste of money. Also time, but I had that to spare. The only wildlife were iguanas and they are all over the island. We did see some colourful birds, but not many. On the plus side the views were spectacular of both the mountains/hills and the ocean. But the 12 km drive through the park was boring. Without any exaggeration there are more interesting side roads in Ontario.

I would highly recommend going to the top of Christoffel Mountain. Make sure to start early! They open at 7:30am Monday- Saturday and 6am on Sunday. It's about an hour each way, with some serious climbs on rock. Wear good shoes, and expect mud.
Stop at the Christoffel Park visitors center to pay admission and get a map. Don't forget bug spray and sunscreen. The first 1/3 of the trail is shaded, but the sun exposure at the top is especially brutal (even if the temp isn't hot) Then you'll drive up to the base of the mountain.
Gorgeous 360° view of the island, and just magnificent! We started at 7:30 on a Sunday morning. Parking wasn't too crowded, and the trail wasn't either. We spent about 30 minutes at the top, took a couple breaks, and we were back to the car by 10:10am.
You can hike from the visitors center, but I'm not sure how much more this adds to the hike. We hiked from the base of the mountain.

We real enjoyed our tour through the park. We visited both sides of it each offering a unique landscape and great views. It was great to discern the change of vegation based on altitude at this park.

The points of interest along the route were lovely - great hiking trails!! The museum in the old plantation 'landhuis' was informative and well organized. Very friendly staff!!

Dec 2018 • Family
My family (wife, two kids - age 12 and 14) visited in December 2018.
We reserved a 2hr safari jeep tour in advance of our arrival. Although advertised as a “pick-up tour”, we were informed that the pickup in question is only at the park entrance. So don’t expect a ride from your hotel (which we didn’t need anyway).
We arrived at the park office to pay for our tour and had to wait in a long line of other tourists paying their fees as well. We eventually got that sorted out and met our guide. We joined another family in the back of an open-air jeep with bench seating.
Our guide drove us up the mountain in Cristoffel Park. Many stops were made along the route where we learned about the history of the park, the use of slaves on plantations, the vegetation, local climate, and much more.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about his duties. This tour does not include the hike up the mountain – it was only one side of the park (mountain side, although that seemed to be at the tour guide’s discretion that morning).

We did both driving routes through the park: the mountainous route was quite boring, there weren't many viewpoints and stops worthwhile to visit. Moreover, you need a good 4-wheel drive car to drive the very steep and winding roads (or at least a car that has a good grip on the road). We had a small car which often slid on the roads, definitely after the rain shower we had! We didn't feel safe and comfortable on that road. The second driving route near the coast was nicer with some nicer coast views + caves. I'd recommend that one. There's no possibility to do small hikes inside the park. There are only two hikes: the one to the top of Christoffelberg (which we weren't going to scale) and one leaving from the park head quarters. There's one further away, but the park employee told us we couldn't get there? (perhaps road was in bad condition?) The internet mentions 8 different hikes but apparently there aren't that many. I found Shete Boka park much more interesting than this one.

The first half was pretty easy. Then it started getting technical. When we got near the summit, my wife and youngest son stopped because it turned from hiking to climbing. My oldest and I climbed to the top. It wasn’t that difficult, just need to take your time. Unfortunately, we were there during a rare storm in Curacao. We got soaked, the trail was muddy, and the view was cloudy, but it was still a great experience. Wear good hiking shoes and get there early. We brought 1 liter of water a piece and it was fine (May have needed more if we didn’t get rained on). It only took us 2 hours so you shouldn’t need food... maybe a granola bar.

The one hour up and one hour down early in the morning is worth it to enjoy the accomplishment of a strenuous hike to the top of the mountain.
