Beautiful place to visit during your trip to Sringeri
Oct 2021
About a 30 minute drive through beautiful landscaped roads beyond sringeri takes you to Kigga the temple of Maharishi Rishyasringa

Rishyasringa muni performed the Putra kama Ishti yagnya for King Dasaratha that led to the birth of his 4 sons in ramayana

In addition he also performed the yagnya to get rain in a barren land

Interesting fact that was revealed to us by one of locals is that many ministers frequent the place when their constituencies dong get rain

Rishyashringa Swamy temple
May 2019
Kigga is located between Sringeri and Sirimane Falls. Amongst the locals the Rishyasringa Swamy temple is more famous than the sirimane falls.
Its a wide believe that it will rain the day after the famous Kigga Jaatre.

Beguiling Nandiji on Earth, one of the best places to perform a Pradosh pooja.
Sep 2018 • Friends
Have Paid obeisance to this Temple and its presiding dirty and Nandiji every time visited Sringeri.have also performed a havan of Rishabh suktam with the kind support of the temple management. But what has made be glued to visiting this temple is the esoteric and strong presence I feel of Nandiji here.i personally comprehend that divine Nandiji has established his active presence in this temple and ever present to bestow blessings to all who seek his blessings.around 9kms away from the Shringeri Temple is nestled amongst the lush green vegetation of Arecanut and other trees and recommended for people performing the pradosha Nandiji pooja.

Rishyamuni temple
Sep 2018 • Couples
This temple is at a small village called Kigga, about 6 kms from Sringeri, on the way to Sirimane water falls. We started from Sringeri by car at about 3.30 pm to the water falls which is nestled in the forest area. We visited the temple on our way back to Sringeri. There is an interesting history to this place. The temple is just by the side of the road and there is ample parking space. The place Sringeri gets its name from this temple. It is a very ancient important temple.

A quaint temple
Dec 2017 • Family
This temple at Kigga is a fairly large and quaint temple. From the idols of gate keepers at the entrance, one can surmise that the core temple must be very old, perhaps 11th or 12th century. But, due to periodic renovation and additions, the identity of temple's architecture is lost. The Shiva Linga is about 4 feet tall. When I visited, the worship had been completed and there were barely a dozen people around. There is a dress code. Men have to remove the top garment, before entering the portals of the temple.

Quietly Nestled Village with an interesting Mythical Past
May 2016
Kigga is the place that is 10 Kilometers from Sringeri. It is quietly nestled amidst the western ghats. It is a village with just one or two roads, but is frequented by lot of tourists owing to the deemed Power of the God there. It is supposed to rain when the ruler of the state offers prayers in Kigga- when drought affects the subjects

Nearby: Sirimane Falls, 2-3 kms from Kigga

Very small temple
Jun 2016 • Family
It is a small temple of the RishiSringa, the saint after whom the whole place 'Sringeri' is also said to be named. It has a lot of sanctity, and it can be visited easily if you have your own vehicle.

Very ncint temple
Feb 2016 • Couples
This is an ancient temple. The temple dates back to Ramanyana times. Sage rushyashringa was praying here for a long time. The story is that Shiva appeared and blessed Rushyashringa and later rushyashrunga is in the Shiva linga here Shiva is the presiding deity here.
The temple is very nice old temple with pillars. It is huge and stone temple. Very cool and pious.
The priest there was very good and friendly and told us the story about the sage and the temple construction.

Historic, yet unknown
Dec 2016 • Family
The temple is on the way to Sirimane falls. We were the last family to enter so couldn't get much time inside. Read about the temple later and found out there is a huge history attached to it. Quiet and nice place.
