This is the only castle in the Åland island and it was first built in the 14th century. The castle is quite impressive from outside in quite idilic surroundings and when you go inside while not extremely interesting at least it is worth 20 minutes...More

We did not enter the castle since it was almoust closing time, but we did walk around the outdoor museum area around the castle. Nice place to visit with children (nice playgrounds and sheep), but also interesting history for adults as well.

What a really memorable place to visit. The audio guide was very well done and displays showing how the built it was really interesting. The walk around the walls is not for those who don’t like heights!

It's a must-see to understand the history of the Åland archipelago. The buildings are impressive. Audioguide is included in the entry price which is rare enough to be pointed out.

You follow the route through the castle and thankfully all the signs are also in English so easy to follow and learn about the castle and a lot of the history of the area and the islands.
