The canal museum was very interesting, although awkwardly situated above a gift shop (there are many stairs). The exhibits are well laid out and there is plenty to read. Was a bit surprised to find it largley unmanned (we had to fish someone out of the cafe next door to find out where to go)

Unfortunately a very wet day recently whilst in Stoke Bruerne so the Museum was an early choice. Not too disappointing though. Its on the canal side with a quality café and shop downstairs. Several examples of boats and painted boatware. Many good posters depicting the evolution of canals and Stoke itself as well as the Blisworth tunnel. Excellent helpful staff

Lots of information in a compact space on 3 levels. A nice shop and tea rooms, also a short walk to the Blacksmiths. Nice to see the lock working, while we were there a party of 6 or 7 deaf school children were there watching what was happening. A lady jumped off a narrow boat and encouraged the children and... A compact museum, but so much to read and interesting artifacts are plenty. A good cafe is also on site.

I often walk along the canal and when I do I always drop in to the café and the shop. The staff are all very nice and helpful. The museum continues to be very interesting. The shop has a wide range of things at very reasonable prices. Many of the things are related to the canal itself - books, pictures,... More

It's great you've had the opportunity to enjoy a cuppa in the Waterside café on more than one occasion. Thank you for your complimentary comments about the museum, gift shop and the team - they have lots of local knowledge and enjoy welcoming customers with a cheery greeting and smile. Hope you continue to enjoy your walks along the canal... More

£4.50 each allows you access to the two rooms of the museum and an audio walking tour of the canal. We didn't take advantage of the audio tour, but the museum itself was good: standard fare as museums go - lots of picture board to read and artefacts to look at - and probably £4.50 was a bit much just... Great you discovered new and interesting snippets about the folks who lived and worked the canals in the past, and fabulous they are still operational for us all to enjoy today. Glad your holiday was a success. More

Spent pleasant couple of hours walking the Canal and mouching round the museum which was well presented and very informative. Café was ideal for a relaxing coffee. All in all a different tourist attraction which wasn't overly commercialised.

A good day out for ...well almost everyone. However, the main car park is not well signposted from the village, drive up the road with a Dead End sign. The car park machine will only accept coins, this is not made clear any publicity so be aware of this. I saw a few cars drive in then realise they needed... More

Thank you for your comment on carpark signage, we'll review the practicalities of improving this. There is a small improvement with the carpark machine, although it only accepts coin payment it does now take both the old and new £1 coin. More

After a visit to this very pleasant canal place and great walk up to the tunnel, stopped for a cuppa and snack, very good selection of home made cakes and snacks at very reasonable prices. A nice experience.

Glad your experience of Stoke Bruerne was nice. If you fancy another walk to the portal of Blisworth tunnel, the Blacksmith and Stained Glass Window craftsmen will be working out of their workshops, now we are into the summer seasons opening hours. It's a good excuse to come back for a cuppa and another slice of delicious cake! More

The museum is a small place set on two floors with very interesting exhibits of the water ways and canals, they even have the front end of a barge to look at, there is also an area for children to sit and draw/colour and some costumes they could dress up in, to look like old men and women of the...
