I found these caves on tripadvisor and followed coordinates. They are not accurate. Actually caves are 15 km away from the address mentioned in here... When I finally arrived at the right location, I was disappointed. I had to pay 5 EUR for guided tour...More

It was a nice visit in the end of summer. We really liked the excursion. The caves are really superb!

The Piusa sandstone caves are the result of hand-mining glass sand during 1922–1966, and are now home to the biggest wintering colony of bats in East Europe. There is a small museum (in the shape of a bat!) on site that gives the history and...More

Piusa is far from the capital but if you are touring in Estonia in the summertime then visit Piusa also. Yes, you can see some part of the caves and not wonder in there alone because it is not safe. I didn't mind because I...More

The place is nice, but there is nothing to see. The tour is super boring, since they just display a video of the caves but then you can not see almost anything. The most worth it thing is the landscape with the sand.

There is not much to see, the passage is closed, so there is only a certan area, where you can see the inside of the caves. Still they tell you a little story and you can watch the film about bats (included in the price).

You won't find anything similar in any other place in Estonia - these sand caves are together with the Taevaskoja nature tracks the two most known landmarks for (southern) Estonia. It's a pretty long ride to get there as it's almost next to the Russian...More

This site of Estonia is completely something else. I was blown away! I was there on a hot summer day, in 30 C heat, and the unrealistic sandy landscape reminded me of a desert (very un-Estonian). An absolutely fantastic feeling! If you want to visit...More
