It is believed that the food pipe of Goddess Sati had fallen in this place & only thereafter this temple had come up. In Bengali the food pipe is known as “Nali” & hence the name “Nalayeshwari”. The Goddess is worshipped in the form of a stone inside the temple & that happens to be the deity.
This temple is about 25 Kms away from Tarapith & can be accessed by car, auto rickshaw or even battery operated totos.

The temple is in Nalhati town near Rampurhat Junction railway station. Neat and clean premises and less crowded. There is a temple of Lord Ganesha right adjacent to it. The road approaching the temple is quite narrow and there is no space for a 4 wheeler parking. The building next to the temple premises offers accommodation and it is maintained by the temple trust.

After having darshan of maa tara, at tarapeeth, came back to rampur hat bus stand, by jeep, cost me rs.15/- travel time 15 minutes, From there took private bus(please don't call it katara), costs rs.8/, dropped me at nalhati, did a walk for 5 minutes crossed the railway station, from railway station to temple 25 minutes walk, the temple was empty as compared to maa tara.... had a good darshan at 3pm, this time took a rickshaw to nalhati railway station, cost rs.15/-, no train at that time to rampur hat, hence did a walk back to the main road, took a bus to rampur hat, cost me rs.8/- once again, From bus stand railway station was bit far, hence took a rickshaw for rs.20/-. Now no hotels at railway station, during evening, Hence could not get any packing stuff for 2 days of train journey. Had to be content with some chapathis at the road side eatery.
Took the train to chennai at 18.45hrs, (mussafarabad - yeshwatpur express via howrah), It was good darshan other than the 5 days of train journey.

Dear All Maa Kali Devotee,
Maa Nalateswari Temple,About 15 kms away from Rampurhat city,Bhirbhum in west bengal is one of the 51 places where parts of Sati's body fell thus it is known as Shakti peethas. It is believed that the throat of Sati or “Nala” fell here.Temple is 1400 years old. This is a beautiful place with fine vicinity and plateaus all around it where Maa Nalateswri resides and has resemblance with Kamakha and Kalighat pithas.
The “Garb Griha” (sanctum sanctorum) of this temple is crowned with a raised pinnacle where deity of Maa Nalateswri is worshipped. The feeling of positive energy (that helps to destroy the evils of life) rises within as you look at the deity of Maa. With large “Trinayan” and golden red tongue of the deity below this lays the “Nala” or throat of the divine sati. No matter how much water is being poured down the throat, it will never gets overflowed or dried up. A few kilometres away from this temple lays the shrine of Jogesh Bhairab, Ganesha temple and a mysterious neem tree.
Normally temple opens at 5:30 am & closes by 8:30 pm , also depends on season.
You can add Maa Nalhateswari temple tour with Santiniketan, Tarapaith etc in 3 days tour from kolkata.
Jai Maa Nalhateswari. Jai Maa Nalhateswari,Jai Maa Nalhateswari.

Superb, empty temple as compared to the mad crowds at the Tarapith temple.
This is where the throat of Sati fell. Do make the effort and visit this temple. Highly recommended. About an hour's travel time from Tarapith.

We were 10 peoples who went from Chandannagar to Tarapith and after the Darshan was over at Tarapith Temple we moved toward this Nalhateshwari Temple. Before reaching there I was eager to know what is the speciality of this place but on reaching that place we came to know few facts like the Temple was one of the 51 Shaktipeeth and at this place Nala i.e throat of Maa Shakti fell. Another amazing fact was that this temple is situation on top of a small hill where there is a Mazar of Ana Baba Mazar Sherif and both this temple and Mazar are adjacent to each other.
This Temple was really a Place for a Peace Lover persons and after whole day of Excursion at Tarapith Temple we were tired and felt alot of relief on reaching this temple.
