Situated on the most intense road you have ever seen, it was a harrowing experience just to make it to La Grivilière. Barely one lane in places, riddled with steep inclines and blind corners, it required much straining just to see the road on the other side of hills, and lots of honking to warn oncoming traffic of our presence.... This was once a big coffee plantation. It is now a historic restoration and grows a little coffee. The tour tells about some of the tropical plants, making of coffee, and the history of the plantation. The tour ends with coffee or chocolate. Keep your ticket to turn in when you get your coffee.

As others have pointed out, the road to the plantation itself will have you wondering why you ever decided to go and whether you're going in the right direction. Blame the coffee plant for preferring high altitude locations. Once you've made the journey, the tours start on the hour and cost about 7.50 euros per person and include a drink... More

The tour of this 18th century coffee and cacao plantation takes about an hour; they go more or less on the hour (ours left 8 minutes after). Although mostly given in French, it is easy enough to follow and our guide spoke in English whenever she could. The trail is rough and involves climbing, but the two 70-somethings in our... More

We (2 adults and 2 young of 9 and 13 years, just loved it. You learn so much in so little time. The lady who showed us around was very experienced, a very good communicator capable of adapting herself to any sort of traveler. Really interesting, beautiful and nicely restored plantation.

If you visited already other botanical gardens in Guadeloupe, you can spare yourself this location because you get mostly explanations about the creole garden you already know. Not much about coffee as stated on their website and what the aim of this domain should be. Maybe it's because they are renovating the site ... Anyway, we were disapointed. Don't take... More

First off, Guadeloupe is a French speaking island with very little English spoken anywhere. If this is an issue for you, don't visit Guadeloupe. With that said, Habitation la Griveliere was one of the oldest coffee/coca plantations in this part of the world. Tours are provided on the hour and given only in French. We don't speak any French at... More

It's a risky drive out of the way on a very treacherous road (not just my opinion, road signs reiterate this often - very steep, mostly single lane road, you need to honk your horn as you turn the corner, you'll be honking a lot!). The tours are only on the hour, so depending when you arrive you may have... More

Very nice and easyunderstanding even if the guided tours only was in french. the guided spent 10 min to let you know the most important things about coffeeproduction and the life at the farm. The road to the farm is very narrow, drive carefully!
