We stayed one night in this park. Very accessible. You can swim in the waterfalls. The hostel facility is very basic. You have to bring your own cooking device. There is a barbecue if needed.

The place to climb the mountain is considered 3 to 4 hours to climb is the most fun because you get the opportunity to see the largest flower in the world that is the Rafflesia flower. As for the waterfall,it is so fast that is flows into the mountains.Because of that, my friend and I had a lot of fun climbing this Gunung Gading together so that it could be a memory on the this Gunung.

I stayed one night at the park and had a good time but unfortunately I didn’t time it right to see the flowers. The forest trees are quite good and the hostel facilities were decent, too.
If your only reason to visit is for the flowers then check in advance before you go, otherwise you will be disappointed. If you just like to explore the rainforests and look for creatures, then the hiking trails are enjoyable and I spotted a number of large millipedes and some lizards.
This place didn’t compare to Gunung Mulu NP for me, there was a lot more to see and do there. It also takes about two hours to get Gunung Gading from Kuching, so that is a lot of traveling if you only do a day trip. So it might be a good idea to spend a night at the park.
Overall I enjoyed the park but it wasn’t my favourite place on my trip to Borneo.

At the headquarter you get a map, which is not really good (the trails are not truthfully drawn) and you don't get too much information from the receptionist. The trails need to be rennovated, a lot is broken (woodpaths) and not very good signaled (there are not too many signs plus the meter- and timeinfo is always missing and even some are unreadable). We did all of the trails except the summit, and some trails go really through the jungle, what is nice and the waterfall on the top is pretty nice (to bath). The entrace fee is 20rm p.p. plus a guide for 30rm if you want to go to a blooming rafflesia, if there is one (if they told us that they're expecting one to bloom and where we would have seen it without a guide, but they just told us when we were back that we took a guide for money).

We have been in Gunung Gading in February 2020. That is really nice place to stay for an one night. It is there two main trail - one to view point where you can see a south east China Sea and Lundu City. Second one id going to summit. Entrance fee 20rm per person and hostel room is 40rm per room or 15rm per person. To Lundu City is super close ~2km so you can go and eat something in the city.

As per subject, so you need not to expect anything. The flower cant even survive due to the fall or broken of branches. Lesson of the day: check the weather before come to here. Perhaps, another trip in future.

Easy walks and helpful guides. As soon as we got to the visitor center we were told that there was a rafflesia in bloom not too far off. A short walk later we found it! Went with two seniors and a small child and everyone was able to do the walk easily.

If the opportunity arises that the Rafflesia is blooming I would certainly recommend the trip to see it! You can check the Parks Facebook page for updates. The park is beautiful and also quiet and free from mass tourism. The park guide was excellent and lead us to the flower which was unlike anything I’ve seen before.

Gunung Gading National Park offers a basic accommodation in forest lodges with shared kitchen and bathroom. A private room costs 40 MYR. Remember to take your towel and some food with you (there are no canteens in the park's accommodation). It's nice to stay overnight, there is a swimming pool and a bbq place.
Waterfall 7 it's really nice for swimming. If you plan on trekking to the summit, be prepared, it takes approximately 2.5-3 hours and the route is demanding, lots of stones and tree roots. There is not much to see on the top, it's just very satisfying to reach it and enjoy the nature on the way.
I travelled there from Kuching with a bus from the central bus terminal (Kuching-Lundu), cost 12 MYR. Buses go only 4 times a day and be aware that the schedule changes and the online information is unfortunately not valid. Overall, it's a nice place for people enjoying the nature!

My husband and I stayed at three national parks on our trip in Sarawak (Gunung Gading, Matang Wildlife Centre, and Bako) and this one was the nicest of all. We stayed in a very budget-friendly forest hostel for two nights (30RM per night) and had the entire four roomed hostel to ourselves. It is in a beautiful spot and has lovely sunrise, sunset and sounds at night. There are two kitchen rooms per hostel, and a man's and woman's toilet and shower room. Sheets and blankets are supplied, but no towels. There is an outdoor bbq and indoor and outdoor clothes lines for drying clothes. It was really easy to cook in the kitchen, but we had a car and were let in and out of the park after 5pm through the manned security gate so we could eat in the town of Lundu. Lundu has a lot of places to eat and a very good supermarket. We did the walk to the three waterfalls, and two of them offered really lovely swimming. There is even a bathing pond by the accommodation if you don't want to walk. We saw a rafflesia bud a week or so before opening, and even that was quite impressive. We really enjoyed our two night stay at Gunung Gading and probably could have stayed longer and used it as a base to explore the surrounding areas (such as the really nice beach at Kampung Pandan and even Sematan).

Hi! Thank you so much for your post about the rafflesia flower in bloom. I was wondering how far in did you have to walk to see one? Thank you!

It is actually depend, the flower can be every where around the park. Some time you just need to walk 5 to 10 minutes to see one, on other day, you might need to walk further. It took around 15 minutes to see 2 during our last visit, the access is easy, even for young children.
During our visit, there are lot of flower buds here and there. The tour guide will remain not to touch or step on them, as it took 9 months to bloom. She told us, normally you can find 1 within 30 min walk. However, if you have times, they have several water flaws which you might consider to pay them a visit.
Cheers
