Just another case of India not knowing how to preserve history! This looks like a small hunting/hiding lodge for the Kodava King of xx century. Still, it is intriguing. It has had a zenana, some trap doors and tunnels below. But there are no lights and no guides. Looks shabby, small and deserted.
If only someone could recount this king's story, and get the structure repaired and lit up!

We couldn't see much of this place as the guard was on lunch break. Road work being carried out so accessibility was bit difficult.

Palace mean to be hide out place for king. Visited this place but found closed. outer fence wall/Entrance is damaged. But could peep from outside to see the inside. Some one in other reviews pointed out number of Guide/caretaker can be tried during visit to this place. Located in Dense forest. Next to this there is resort and waterfall. If you are love to explore places and history then visit or can skip this place.Small/very palace compared to Mysore. Road not so good in condition

Though we went later to the time of 06:00 the Caretaker was very rude at the beginning - but was kind to show and explain in detail and took even to the Hiding Chamber to show every wall of the paintings and was worth the visit.

Those who have read a bit of Kodava history can enjoy this more. Else, this place doesn't have much to offer. The approach road is bad and the place is not well maintained. We reached at 1:40 PM and found the place closed because of lunch. The caretaker opened it at 2:00 PM. Didn't spend more than 20 minutes here. It was a Sunday and soon the place got crowded with visitors interested in a selfie.

When we reached the Nalknad palace, we were in for a rude shock. While we were not expecting something as grand as those in Mysore or Gwalior, we were awaiting to see a building ornately decorated reflecting its importance from the past. All we could see was a building which was badly maintained. It was locked and the person in charge of the Palace who acted as our guide appeared only after he saw some people. This gentleman explained to us about the history of the palace and took us around, showed us the dark rooms and various paintings on the ceilings and walls and did a fantastic job.
Wish this monument is spruced up and request people who are reading this to go visit this place and make an entry in the register placed there. More people going here may result in additional resource allocation for the up keep of this monument.

Found the Palace quite interesting. It is well preserved for its age. Nice painting on the wall and ceiling. Well carved old wooden pillars. Also interesting were the bathrooms and escape hatch.
Difficult to get to as the road is not very good towards the end.

Located closer to Kakkabe, this palace is less visited well-maintained structure. A protected monument this, it's location is intriguing. Visitors with a curious mind to check some less known structures, will like to explore this palace.
