If you are a family with kids and are in Pollibetta/South Coorg then this place is a must visit.the place is easily reachable .the owner Ms Khushi is a perfect host who is running the place out of pure passion and in the bargain people like us can have a good time.plan for a 2 hour visit where your children can enjoy seeing bee culture ,feeding ducks and also fishing in the ponds . i bet you wont regret the 2 hours spent at the farm.the visit end with a great cuppa coorg coffee out in the open. A perfect 5 star and a thumbs up for family visit !

This is a must visit place with young kids. Our kids aged 10 and 3 loved the whole experience where they learnt about bee keeping, coffee growing, elephants, feeding the ducks, fishing and meeting the cows... it was a lovely walk and interaction with Kushi. She was kind enough to accommodate us as we went without prior information. I recommend talking to her once before going there so that they can be better prepared. The kid in me loved seeing the touch me nots and making bubbles from a leaf stem... all in all, a highly recommended place. Thank you Kushi for your hospitality and the lovely time today.

Had an exciting and a very knowledgeful trip. Living in urban places , visiting The Giving tree estate brought us closer to nature and its diversity. We had an opportunity to look around to see how coffee , pepper and many others were cultivated. Also...…..got to taste the PUREST HONEY ....... directly squeezed from the honeycomb. Kushi ma'am gave us a tour of the place and explaining everything in detail. There were also bee boxes, (Apiculture) where honey bees were grown. We also went for fishing in the pond and also fed the ducks. It was a great fun experience.... for all of us and a must visit for all visiting Coorg and for those who want to have a closer look of mother nature

Kudos to Kushi Bhimaya for The Giving Tree .
Thanks to TripAdvisor, we found The Giving Tree among the top things to do around Virajpet in Coorg.
It was easy to establish contact and fix a time for the visit. We used good old phone calls and WhatsApp. It was convenient for us because we just finished our visit to the Dubare Elephant Camp and it was just a 22- minute drive to here.
Kushi and her friendly pet Marly were ready to greet us as we arrived at the Kasturi Estate.
My girls aged 11 and 6 enjoyed the experience of changing into Gum-boots in a 50 yr old Mudwalled Cottage ;-)
Since we were all wet from the Elephant Camp, we had to change before the Farm Walk.

Kushi has a way with kids... easily engaging them into intelligent and seeking conversation . They learnt about Bee-keeping and honey, Vermiculture, Local nature cure methods, Paddy farming, Local flora and fauna, Eco-friendly and sustainable living...And much more.
We were served Fresh PassionFruit juice and Locally brewed Coffee sweetened with Jaggery. It was delicious.
She also fed us a local sweet dish made of rice and a healthy leafy vegetable. It was awesome!
The girls also fed the ducks, fish and Ferdinand-the 2 month old Calf in her cow-shed.
What was supposed to be a 60 minute nature walk, ended well over 2 hrs later.
At the end of it all, we also carried goodie bags with samples of local produce :-)

It was well worth the time and money. A suggestion to Kushi- Raise the entry fee per person!

Definitely recommend!

We were visiting Club Mahindra Virajpet and I came upon reviews of the Giving Tree at Tripadvisor. We were 2 families travelling together with 4 kids between 4 - 11 years of age. On reading the reviews we thought it would be a good opportunity for the kids to understand about beekeeping, walk through a plantation, understand about farming and spend some time with animals and nature. We decided to give it a shot.
We called up Khushi in the morning and she said she would be available post noon. She also gave me a good overview of what to expect, how to reach there and how the kids could be better prepared given that it was close to lunch time that we planned to visit. She also sent across the last mile directions over a message.
On reaching there she was standing there at the gate to receive us at the said time. She was very cordial, very patient with the kids to answer all their queries and also explain very well about beekeeping, farming etc practically. She was not in any rush and very willing to spend time and reciprocate depending on the interest of the guests. We had an hour long walk through the farm. It was a rainy day and she also had gum boots available . The kids had a wonderful time. They did fishing at the pond, fed a calf, some ducks and also got to spend time with the dog Marley. Kushi also arranged coffee , juice and a taste of honey in the outdoors.
All in all it was a great experience for all of us and the kids.
More importantly it was great to see the passion in Khushi towards taking care of the farm and beekeeping and it clearly came through.
Keep up the great work Khushi!!

We didn't know what to expect when we were going to The Giving Tree, but were completely in love with the place and the owner, Kushi! We are a family of 4 with my father in law who is 70 yrs and my son who is 6 years old. Kushi has so much happening in her estate- Coffee and Spice Plantation, Bee keeping, animals, fishes etc that the tour was an absolute treat for everyone. Kushi also took special effort to engage my 6 year old son who had an opportunity to not only see all the wonderful things but also feed the animals and do a wonderful painting activity at the end of the tour along with our picnic basket. It is Kushi's attention to detail and her genuineness that makes the experience even more special. We loved meeting Kushi and her daughter. The Giving Tree is a must visit place when in Coorg!

The Giving Tree experience was a day well spent with my kids aged 11,8 and 2. We enjoyed the walk through the lush estate. The kids loved feeding the ducks, hens and fish. Also got to learn bees and bee keeping. Tasting the honey was the best bit.
Definately a fun way to spend our morning in Coorg.
