the only real reason to visit Touba to to see this amazing place. it's undergoing another facelift, so expect a few years of scaffold. that said it's cool to see how the work is progressing, and the bizarre (to western eyes) African way of working....More

As somebody called them, as soon as you approach the mosque (if you hire a Taxi, he will drop you right into their hands usually unless instructed otherwise), "trip advisors" come to you to provide you (ladies) with sthg to cover your head and body...More

If you want to visit the mosque you can do it alone, but if you stop with a car immediately "trip advisors" will join to you. They promise that they will help and guide you for free. But it's not true. They get and "take...More

Gorgeous compound, lots of activity, very friendly people happy to let you photograph. (not always the case in mosques). the minarets are all in scaffolding, however, so no great photos of those to be had right now.

Largest mosque in Senegal. Important pilgrimage destination. Non-Muslims allowed to enter the corridors surrounding the central prayer area, but may not enter the heart of the mosque. Several minarets covered with scaffolding during my visit made any photo of the mosque from a distance impossible....More

Unless you are travelling via Touba to somewhere else and have a few minutes to spare, in my view, the mosque is not worth the visit and non muslims are not allowed into the mosque, only the outer enclosure.
