Mullet Bay
About
Secluded yet spacious, Mullet Bay is a peaceful and relaxing alternative to Maho Beach. You can rent chairs and umbrellas from the snack bars on the south side of the beach, or head up to the quieter northern end, which leads to a small promontory with amazing views of the bay. Book a sunset sail tour or a snorkeling tour out to the nearby coral reef, and cap off your day by walking inland to the lively bistros and bars. Just watch out for big waves from June through November—it's hurricane season in the Caribbean. – Tripadvisor

Love mullet! Chester sets you up with chairs/ umbrella. Rosie’s has great food and drinks at really good prices. Really close to airport. The beach has eroded a bit so there isn’t a lot of beach from Rosie’s to the water compared to years past.

    Perfect day at Mullet
I could not wait to go to mullet bay beach! The water is amazing there. We were greeted by Chester. He was very helpful. We rented 2 chairs and umbrella. Had some good food and drinks at Rosie’s. The water was so clear and no seaweed. It was a little tricky getting in and out of the water because there is a ledge we’re you have to pull your self out of the water. Then clime the sand wall to get to your chairs.

    Favorite SXM beach
This was our favorite beach by far. We went back twice because we liked it so much. $30 for a beach umbrella and chairs. There is a bit of a big drop from the chairs down to the beach. We saw several elderly individuals struggle to get back up it. It was VERY clean and had food and drinks available.

    Best Beach!
This is the most beautiful beach, I have ever visited! My family visited here as part of a cruise excursion and we were not disappointed! White sand beach, stunning crystal clear blue water! There is also a beach bar there that serves up delicious food and drinks! I recommend the grilled mahi mahi sandwich and guava berry colada.

We got a great parking spot right behind Rosie's (on the condition we pay for the umbrella and chairs)
It was crowded the day we visited, and we weren't sure it was worth the walk from where we'd have to park, so we drove up close so that I could hop out and decide if it was worth staying. Someone approached us saying the parking there (right behind Rosie's - the bar/grill) was only for "customers", so where other reviewers say they paid for an umbrella and chairs (cruise passengers, so they didn't have a car to park) we paid for a parking spot, and were given the umbrella and chairs "for free"! Calm, clear water, we got to watch people on lift foils, it was a little too busy for us compared to other beaches we'd been to (Mary's Boon) so we didn't stay long enough to eat. It was a steep embankment up from the shoreline to where the lounge chairs were, but we're told that that type of thing is seasonal. It was a busy, loud, boisterous crowd, and we're more into quiet and peaceful, so it wasn't our favorite - but it was still a beautiful place to enjoy the water.

Great beach, lots of room (be careful of the optional clothing rule)
Arrived at the beach via catamaran. The sand is very soft and there was plenty of room. Not much of a crowd at all. The beach may be man-made, it drops very quickly to be over your head. I was warned that there were some clothing optional issues to be aware of if you have children and I did see one person farther up the beach with no top. But I kept my young son closer to the boat area and it wasn't a problem

Locals beach with great vibe and fun waves
This is the locals beach. We totally loved the vibe here. It's a beautiful cove, with the softest sand, bluest water, a cute beach bar, and umbrellas you can rent. We went here a few times over our week stay. The waves can get a bit rough for kids, especially on the left side near the rocks. After the first visit, we learned and brought our kids' life jackets (they're pretty good swimmers but it helped them enjoy themselves more in the rough waves). Nice sunset spot too!!

    Good beach, sometimes crowded.
Mullet bay is a great beach BUT weekends and cruise ship days you shouldn’t go. It’s the only reason for 4 stars. The water can be wild if there is swell or flat as a lake but it’s more sandy than a lot of other beaches.

    Amazing clear water!
Went for a day trip to Mullet Bay. We took a taxi from Simspon Bay, which cost $25. Front row chairs and umbrella cost $30. Well, worth the day! Eater is crystal clear. Water is calm. I found it could get busy, so get there early to get the best seats if you are planning to rent the chairs. I found the excursion boats coming I close to shore, which is a shame. They actually asked people swimming to move aside... the day we were there had 4 cruise ships in, but there was still plenty of room. Ate at Rosie's on the beach. We had chicken, which was very tasty. Our driver could not make it back to pick us up due to traffic (truck broke down). We hopped on a bus that was taking cruisers back to port. We ended up getting out at the roundabout near the airport at Simpsons Bay as it was quicker to walk. Due to the traffic issue a 15 minute drive took 1 hour. I would recommend not missing this beautiful beach.

This beach and the water was our favorite !
Best beach!! The water is so clear and clean! This is definitely worth the trip! We went jet skiing on the beach . $80 for 30 minutes . We ate at Rosie’s on the beach , cash only but so inexpensive and good! Wear flip flops and walk out on the rocks . Mh husband and daughter kept jumping off and swimming back. We walked to Maho by the airport to see the planes takes off. Easy 10 min walk on a dirt road. Was able to get a can back from Maho to Simpson bag resort for $7 a person . Such a fun day !

The water was pristine, clear, blue. You could see through it as if looking through glass and so very calm. However, to go to the beach is a steep decline and for someone who is challenged from back injuries it is not so easy to access. Also, so many people and so many locals constantly coming by to sell things. And they don’t stop! Fun to visit once but won’t return.

My family and I used to stay at Mullet Bay resort when I was young, before the devastating hurricane that shut down the result for good, sadly. During those years when we were there, there was no high rise on the promontory to the left of the bay. The entire area was so magical to me and my brother. We would dream about it, waiting with great anticipation for the next summer when we knew we would be returning. I really do not know what was in the head of those responsible for approving a high rise or building of any kind on that promontory. It is now just a shell of the majestic splendor it was many years ago. The boardwalk to the right is gone, also a result of the hurricane, never rebuilt. The boardwalk was access to the "fishes' toilet" as we used to call the hole in the rock where water sprung forth from an incoming wave--nowhere to be seen or experienced.

We visited again last year on a day trip from the north of the island. Though the water and the sand are as beautiful as they ever were, the magic is sadly very much in the past.

Impossible to go in the water. Frequent strong high waves knocked everyone over! Not recommended for seniors! Only rest room was a Port-a-Potty. Had to pay $2.00 to use the outdoor shower.
Very disappointing. Had read wonderful reviews before going. Would not go to Mullet Bay again.

The surf is ROUGH. Beware of very strong waves and sand that just sticks to you and won't let go!! I got pounded by waves that knocked me off my feet in 3-4 ft deep water. I emerged looking like a regrettable sand sculpture! There's still sand in my scalp after multiple washes. Still also finding stuck on sand here and there after several showers. Locals do not go here according to our driver. He himself stopped going after getting pulled out by a rip tide.

The cruise ships offer an excursion here but there is 1 shower for 100s of ppl that's on a timer and you have to keep asking for it to be activated.

Best thing about Mullet Bay Beach are the chairs and umbrellas.

Would not return.

The water was exactly what we were looking for - turquoise and clear. But, the amount of people was surprising and took away from the experience.

Just down the road from Maho Beach, this is a surfer's paradise, when the conditions are "right". Mullet Bay Beach is very popular with locals, especially on the weekends. The medical university is in walking distance, so you could also expect many students to hang out here in their limited free time.
