The owner of my guesthouse in Moshi told me to go to Serengeti instead of Ruaha because "there are no animals in Ruaha" - what a bunch of malarkey. On our day safari, we saw elephants, zebras, lions (didn't expect that because of all the greenery of the rainy season), giraffes, mongooses, a dikdik, impalas, kudus, hippos, and tons of... More

I really lovely National Park much bigger than Serengeti but nowhere near as busy. One can have great viewings with no other vehicles around. Airstrip inside park so easy access to lodges

I went here as part of a work visit and after two days I honestly say that Ruaha NP is one of the most under-rated National Parks in Tanzania. If you make it this far south/west from Dar please do not ignore this great park (the largest National Park in Tanzania) I can highly recommend Warthog Adventures as a safari... More

This was the best national park I have been in throughout Africa for lions on one day we saw 16 including 6 cubs and 31 over 5 trips into the park, there are Elephants everywhere as well as good sightings of Leopards and many other mamals and birds, but you need to go deep into the park on day safaris... Ruaha is the second largest park in Africa, and has only 8 lodges (so fewer than 200 people a day at max booking). In October the environment is extremely dry (no rain had fallen since May) and so wildlife was abundant around the few water holes in a mostly dry river. Saw all the big game including a leopard, and... More

We stayed at Flycatchers camp which is just on the river. We spent 5 nights here and enjoyed the entire time we spent here, but you could get away with 4 nights. Ernest was our guide and he tried really hard (and succeeded) in showing us as many of the animals as possible! We saw SOOOO much. Again, I was... More

We stayed in Ruaha N.P. for 3 nights in July as part of an extended safari having previously spent time in Tarangire (Oliver's Camp) and the southern Serengeti (Namiri Plains) before finishing off in Zanzibar. We are very keen amateur wildlife photographers and have a deep interest in the natural world generally. Ruaha was recommended to us last year by... More

This is an outstanding park with beautiful landscapes and an abundance of wildlife, but without the crowds in the more famous northern parks. The dry seasons are best for wildlife viewing.

The park is just huge and vast. 20,000 km2 (larger than Rwanda). Our tanzanian guide , Ernest was very knowledgeable about the history of the park and we managed to see part of the Big Four... Elephants, Buffaloes and ....yes...Two male lions. (Sharubu as Ernest calls them). We even got to see some hyenas feasting on some buffalo carcass. The... More
