Everyone has a dream. José Paronella’s dream became a reality. On 5 Hectares beside Mena Creek Falls he built his castle, picnic area by the falls, tennis courts, bridges, a tunnel, and wrapped it up in an amazing range of 7,500 tropical plants and trees. He even harnessed the waterfall for his electricity. It opened to the public in 1935.Today, visitors to the park marvel at the achievements of one man. Admission to Paronella Park is valid for 12 months and covers all of the tours (a 45 minute guided walk that explains this extraordinary story & takes you through the highlights as well as the stunning Darkness Falls Tour where the castles and waterfall are flood-lit to allow for amazing photo opportunities). Admission also includes the souvenir guide book, fish food, umbrellas, access to the online photo gallery as well as a site for one night in the adjacent van park.

Our visit to Paronella Park was more than we expected, the unique beauty of the old buildings and Castles surrounded by rainforest and the gorgeous waterfalls and the river is stunning. Our tour guide Mandy, told us wonderful stories about the history and Jose Paronella's incredible life of love, passion and hard work. I was holding back tears several times... More

This place is like a scene from a fantasy video game. I went off without a tour so I could explore by myself and be surprised, but apparently the tours are the best way to see the park for non-ADHD folks because they give you the history of the buildings. They give you food to feed the fish and turtles.... More

Paronella Park really has been one mans dream but that dream has long gone. It is a really pretty place with lovely walks and the guided tour was really interesting. This is a fantastic place to photograph as there are wonderful opportunities to snap so many different facets of the park such as the ruins, mossy glades, waterfalls, forest and... More

This was truly a magical place to visit with a really amazing story behind the castle and ruins. The paths and areas to visit and ponder are very serene. Beautiful gardens and walkways, the price is a bit excessive for what you get but still wouldn't have missed this attraction.

At first we wondered what you got for the price but OMG so much value. We did 3 very different tours. A day and a night tour and then a hydro tour. I normally don't like to do guided tours but this time gave it a go. You really need to hear the story behind Jose Paranella to understand everything.... More

This one was a hidden gem. I'm born and bred in SE QLD and I didn't know this place existed until I saw it mentioned in a tour book. It's fantastic, yes maybe a little overpriced but I can appreciate the cost it would take to keep this place in tact. It does lack food options, great cakes, etc but... More

Visited with my mother and did the free 45 minute guided tour included in the entry fee. At $44 per adult ($39 for pensioners) it was more than twice the price per person of nearly every other tourist attraction we have visited around the Cairns area. This park is basically a small crumbling ruin with a waterfall. The rainforest gardens... More

The park is awesome in its own right. Though the history you can get with a tour (included in admission price) is the real gem. Wont give it all away. go check it out.

We absolutely loved this place, the history behind it was amazing! All the staff we super friendly and helpful and the tour guide was great, he told you the history behind the park and also what's install for the future. We cannot wait to come back and see the new ballroom once it's finished! Amazing property and a must see!
