There is a lot of history to go with the fights between Finns and Russians that took place in these forests and lakes. Well build and curated exhibition to ensure we never forget (and hopefully learn from the past).

A stopping memorial for those from USSR & Finland who perished here in winter 1939-40. Nice wartime museum surrounded by original battlegrounds.

You have to visit to understand what happened in Suomussalmi in 1939. And how the Finns ended up winning this David vs. Goliath battle with the Red Army.
